The Big 2018-19 Squad Thread

Nobody said that he's 'not allowed to leave' champ: try wiping the salty tears away and reading for the sake of comprehension. It is in fact perfectly logical to hold the following, two points of view on the issue:

1) Tidser will probably have better offers available than from GMFC, where he also won't be managed by a complete and utter clown, but also

2) Tidser or any other current player choosing to sign for Falkirk over other and objectively better offers already on the table - given the conduct of that horrible little football club and their certified liar of a manager over the past twelve months - would be king snake behaviour.

We really don't need any more valid and sympathetic arguments to be made in Tidser's case on the former point; absolutely none of them apply to the latter scenario though. No appeals to 'service' (i.e. merely fulfilling the contracts offered as a professional football player); no whining about a lack of a contract renewal; not even the incumbent manager. Even if TTGJ was shagging Tidser's missus it still wouldn't make playing for Falkirk a less reprehensible decision on the player's part.

If you have an ounce of goodwill for this club then you do not touch that outfit with a bargepole right now. It's really not that hard to grasp tbh.

The site is supposed to be a place for the extended 'family' of Morton supporters - having an affinity with people that you don't know, because you share a love of your local football club. It's not supposed to be about point scoring and showing how 'clever' or 'funny' you are, or just being downright rude and offensive to people you don't know, because you can get away with it. Unfortunately, it seems the classic case of people who have little standing/presence in real life, use this forum as a way of making themselves feel as if they are something. It's sad, and I've said that before..

So, having been on Morton forums for about 15 years I guess, I've had enough... well done t*ssers, another Morton supporter driven away. You can all feel happy at how 'clever' you are

Tidser owes us nothing. For all we know, Falkirk could be offering him the best deal out of anyone, in fact they could be the only ones. It’s a short career, I place much more blame on Morton/JJ than I do him.

Why have something signed now, though? Unless he was trying to push the deal through in January. There will be more deals available at the end of the season, and probably a greater variety due to clubs knowing what league they will be playing in, etc.

I'm not going to change your mind and you're not going to change mine so let's agree to disagree champ.

Even allowing for a horrendous 2018, looking at it objectively I'd suggest that Falkirk's league positions over the last decade probably make them round about the ideal team for Tidser. If he went to a lower end top flight team he'd probably struggle to play his own game, whereas at a team that's always there or thereabouts the top end of the Championship he'll be one of the best players in the league. Christ, even if they do go down they're still far more likely to reach the Premier League in the next two seasons than Morton which is a really grim reflection on our prospects, but that's how it is.

I don't really expect Tidser to be willing to sacrifice a good move for him just to appease a bunch of people on a messageboard. Morton and Johansson have created this mess and I don't blame anybody who decides enough is enough.

This must be the first time a player has sigend a pre contract with a club and it's not been announced. You would have thought McKinnon would want to rub our noses in it by announcing that he had pinched our best player from under our noses.

The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.

Maybe Tidser has asked them not to say anything.

Can imagine Tidser, Falkirk and Morton all having their reasons to sit on this when it didn’t go through in January.

Morton could of course kill the rumours stone dead by offering Tidser an extension to his contract with the promise of a testimonial in due course - something which imho they should have done ages ago.  Doing that (initiated at board level as clearly JJ wouldn't have the initiative or the authority to do such a thing) would send a strong message to JJ.

"Any nation given the opportunity to regain its national sovereignty and which then rejects it is so far beneath contempt that it is hard to put words to it."

But, but, but, Morton don't talk about contracts til near the summer because they can't seem to handle more than one issue at a time.

Tidser should have been a priority in Jan. If the stories are to be believed, he was told that Morton would discuss things with him at a later date.

Embarrassing

TIME FOR CHANGE!

Be fair though, we did need Dylan Dykes sorted as priority.

Latest article on the Tele website is Johansson saying that he knew the players he brought in in January would take time to settle because all they've played is reserve football. He must surely be running out of excuses for not winning football matches soon.

Sick to death of reading any comment from him these days. Nothing at all gives the impression he takes ownership of this mess!

The settling in one doesn't really explain why we have only scored 7 goals in our last TWELVE games does it JJ?

Get fecked!

It does seem farcical that a manager whose natural position was a striker, can’t then get his team to score goals.

McGhee needs some support, there's no-one backing him up.
Hayes playing it forward, Bell being forced to do it all alone, now forward from Marr, here's Ritchie, still Andy Ritchie, look at the control...

That is a marvellous goal from Andy Ritchie. Twenty minutes on the clock and Morton's supporters come alive. A goal which epitomises the control, the arrogance, the cheek of Andy Ritchie.
