It does appear that they have a bottomless pit of cash at the moment, but when/if they go down this year's set of accounts will make for hilarious reading.

They had just over £500,000 in cash when they had their AGM in December. You've got to imagine this this will take a hit that won't recover if they go down (considering what they've spent to try to stay up).

In 2017 they lost £303k after player sales. The year before, £130k.

Their actual operating losses for 2016 and 2017 were in the region of £660k per year before sales.

They needed a guaranteed £400k per year from player sales to keep the academy going which was a big risk.

Had they carried on, they projected the club would have run out of cash in April 2018.

Project brave was also going to lead to increasing academy costs by a third over the next couple of years.

Since 2011, they have brought in £3m in player sales. The academy cost £2.4m over that period, so a surplus from the academy of £75k per year.

Rather than big profits, it merely plugged a gap in their already financial hole. Had they went a year without transfer income, they would have run out of cash.

They have undergone their own wider cost cutting exercise recently (strangely not on the playing side). 2 seasons now with reduced prize money by being in the bottom section of the league (and having to sign 2 whole teams 2 years in a row to try to stave off a catastrophic relegation) and their financial situation is getting grim.

£60k compensation paid to Hartley, £70k (plus £40k fine), for McKinnon and things are getting worse.

Unethically, their spending has continued.

Their much publicised fan ownership scheme where their horrible hordes have pledged £600k is now on the verge of being shelved as their board drop their knickers and whore themselves to any investor that will listen (actually courting investment unlike Morton's back of a fag packet, mention in passing that you are open to offers) hoping to dig up an American investor out of nowhere.

One shareholder rumoured to be jumping ship this week. Rats from a sinking ship.

Glorious.

Couple of things here that are particularly interesting -

1. Rumours are that the people they are whoring themselves out to have no real interest in football and just want to turn them over. Of course, since they don't own their whole stadium I can't see how this could be true as they have no real assets. Anyway, if we were to do that, we do have actual assets which could be stripped so an 'anyone buy us we don't care who' strategy is best avoided.

2. I wonder how much (if at all) the cost of players has went up now that they can't just fill their squad and reserves with 18yr old academy players on pennies. Any idea Jamie (or anyone else)?

All in all a really good summary of how much trouble that mob are in. Fans will be baying for blood but I doubt they can afford to empty another manager.

Genuinely, very very few teams who I would like to see go bust. Normally, even if I hate the club, I wouldn't want the fans to have nowhere to go since I can remember how terrifying that thought was for us. However, with Falkirk I would love every single second of it.

Their racist fans are planning some kind of protest on Saturday. Either outside the stadium or on the pitch was the suggestions.

Perma-losers.

We've absolutely broken them. Delicious.

You address me by my proper title, you little bollocks!

Not sure but you would expect it to be significant before you even count the fact that 2 Januarys in a row they spunked cash on paying off contracts of a relegation threatened team to buy a whole new one.

Quite glorious that they have basically had 2 relegation worthy squads this season.

They have made £500k of cost savings by reviewing their operation (presumably including the academy) but certainly spunking the extra cash won't help their bottom line.

Then there's Ray. The unexpected () £110k he has cost them before his transfer dealings and he still looks like taking them down.

Highlights how critical the right managerial appointment can be, and decisions around their contract, particularly in times of balancing the books and struggling in the league.

Ian Murray, Jack Ross, Paul Hartley (first season) all worked perfectly as appointments, Ray a disaster.

We have had our own with Kenny Shiels being the wrong type of appointment at the wrong time and we are still on the verge of our current one being a huge disaster, both with the choice of JJ and the inexplicable decision to hand him a 2 year deal.

Glorious indeed. Added bonus that absolutely nobody in that squad will get them their much needed transfer fee boost. Hope they go down and spend a year in League 1, fail to get promoted then go bust.
