Ferguslie Park Voted For The Tories

I'm a bit shocked and surprised at this, it was obviously a 'protest vote' of sorts against the establishment, but the usual beneficiaries such votes are the SNP, and in areas like this SSP, Solidarity etc. When the hell did sinkholes like Feegie ever vote Tory, protest or not?

I await our Texan resident to tell us what this all means exactly, or for VikingTon to wax lyrical about the incidences of sperm deficiency of the local male populus.

Either way, thoughts?

I've not been keeping up with Scottish politics but I assume what this means is that some people who are either put off by the pro-indy policies of the SNP (likely) or their government record (less likely but possible) are rounding behind the Tories because Labour are in complete disarray and their party machinery has fallen to bits. Plus as the Thatcher era fades away and Scotland settles into post-industrialism I think the stigma of voting Tory is gone.

I guess the Unionists and/or disaffected of these areas just feel they have nothing to lose.

As much as I am a proud unionist and unashamed capitalist, I could never bring myself to vote Tory. I couldn't bring myself to vote Labour either, but my hatred for the former of those parties far outweighs the other.

With every passing election, the memories and legacy of the Tories decimating the West of Scotland becomes a more distant memory. Voting Tory isn't the stigmatised vote that it was, because the political and economical landscape that the Tories decimated simply doesn't exist anymore. Voting Tory is becoming a perverse hipster trend in Scotland. I accept that low turnouts generally help the Tories, but this appears to be a happening trend.

Hopefully the Scottish Government will respect the wishes of the good folk of Ferguslie and ensure all benefit cuts are applied there as the Tories intended.

Since when was a wage slave a capitalist. The nearest a drone like you will get to capitalism is through the trickle down economy and that will be in the form of gravy running down your chin.

And who is a wage slave? I get well remunerated for any work I do, wherever I choose to do it. Not that it's any of your business, mind.

The closest you'll ever get to capitalism is the Asian Spiv who sells your Electric White short changing you, because you are too jakeyed oot yer nut to realise it.

It's not actually 'Ferguslie Park' - it's a bit like claiming 'Port Glasgow elects a Tory!!!' when it is in the same ward as Kilmacolm. The Only Show in Town (plus the Greens) increase their representation while the staunch British nationalists rally to a toxic Tory party. That works for me.

The local SNP council group failing to hound Labour out of the town, when their sitting MP has a crushing 10,000 majority must count as a sackable offence for a former poster on this forum.

The site is supposed to be a place for the extended 'family' of Morton supporters - having an affinity with people that you don't know, because you share a love of your local football club. It's not supposed to be about point scoring and showing how 'clever' or 'funny' you are, or just being downright rude and offensive to people you don't know, because you can get away with it. Unfortunately, it seems the classic case of people who have little standing/presence in real life, use this forum as a way of making themselves feel as if they are something. It's sad, and I've said that before..

So, having been on Morton forums for about 15 years I guess, I've had enough... well done t*ssers, another Morton supporter driven away. You can all feel happy at how 'clever' you are

Looks like the hard line yoon Labour vote has emigrated en masse to the Tories. SNP vote appears to be up by 105,000 and the margin of victory over the second party is massively increased. Yet the BBC and mainstream media in overdrive proclaiming a Tory victory. Not even spin, it's blatant lying now.

"Any nation given the opportunity to regain its national sovereignty and which then rejects it is so far beneath contempt that it is hard to put words to it."

That's why they're now completely dominant at every level of the Scottish political system, after a decade of unrelenting electoral landslide victories.

If the SNP were to win all 59 seats, the media line would be "They've peaked".  In fact I think there is to be a reduction in the number of constituencies in Scotland from 59 to 50, so no doubt that will be spun as the SNP losing seats too.

They may have a stronger good guy vote but it's a definite no to letting Ayrshire bumpkins having a say over the Clyde Riviera for me.
