Wonder if any of those banned currently have season tickets or MCT direct debits...

I've got a season ticket, but don't contribute to MCT, as I'm not convinced by them.

In my e-mail to McKinnon, I asked where I stand with my season ticket. Will I be admitted to Cappielow on Saturday and if not, do they plan to refund me for the remaining league games?

Blocking fans on Twitter opens up a lot of questions- it is their most used platform and, whilst they might not want to interact, do they want us not to receive information? If that is the case, is it because they no longer want us as customers/fans?

I'm booked up for hospitality for the Dundee United game in March for my mate's 50th. I've paid a £25 deposit but they can whistle for the rest of it. I'll not be paying to be wined and dined by them if that's the attitude they have towards me.

And Alibi's lad too, I see.

What a club.

I'm blocked too. Unless they have trawled back through my posts, it must be because I expressed my disagreement with the omission of Lyon and Nesbitt from the starting line up on Saturday. Probably not for expressing a view on Ramsbottom's abilities as fortunately I haven't had to do that recently.

How long before fans are ejected for booing the players off the park as per the recent Partick game?

What does our SLO gave to say about this? And the MCT people, given that our money is funding the team?

"Any nation given the opportunity to regain its national sovereignty and which then rejects it is so far beneath contempt that it is hard to put words to it."

To the SLO's credit, he's collecting feedback to forward on. Not to put words in his mouth, but the fact that he's doing it would suggest that he knows it's a cause for concern.

Agree with the rest of this 100%.

He hides from hospitality now too by the sounds of it.

If it was the case that the team had just suffered another bad defeat and the Twitter account was deluged with genuine abuse every week, you could understand if they went with something like "We understand your frustrations...but foul and abusive language will not be tolerated and repeated offenders will be blocked". As far as I can see the account isn't received a great deal of outlandish abuse though, and even if it was the time they chose to moan is on the back of a rare victory?!

The problem is that it's not just abusive language they're on about, it's any sort of criticism and seems to extend to everything and anything that doesn't meet somebody or other's approval - the tweet says as much, and so do the subsequent blocks.

Fact of the matter is that businesses that are performing as badly as Morton is need to accept that there's going to be a lot of strongly-worded opinions in their mentions. If somebody is repeatedly booting the arse out of it, use the report function and mute them for a while if they keep doing it, but you can't just go banning your customers for complaining.

It's quite astonishing that the club has the nerve to harp on about "constructive challenge". Less than two years ago the chairman was telling us he had a three year plan to reach the top flight and had people buying season tickets off the back of it, only for it to turn out to be a load of either dishonest or incompetent (delete as appropriate) rubbish, and he's had fuck all to say about it since other than to encourage a glorified whip-round to cover his own responsibilities and failings. Fuck that.

Morton Twitter is going off tonight. Jean Johansson trying (and failing) to stick the boot in now.

I see Mark Farrell (Sport scientist who has left the club and is now at Partick rather than the Groundsman) piped up in the replies as well:

We all done well, particularly the gaffer. The club flirted with the top 4. Finished 5 overall. JJ worked without any pre season & on quick arrival while having an immediate & significant budget cut. Should still be managing if not at Morton somewhere else.

‘Flirted with the top four’ - if finishing 8 points off the top four is flirting with it, then we were also flirting with relegation as we finished 8 points from 9th. As finishing in the top four became mathematically impossible with four games remaining as we sat 13 points off it, we were never serious contenders.

At the time the top four became mathematically impossible, we were only 3 points from 9th and 4 from 10th - this became 2 & 3 respectively with 3 games remaining - and we only made relegation mathematically impossible with one game left. we were much closer to relegation.

Also worth noting that the three points which secured our top half finish on the last day came after Johansson had been deservedly punted. Overall 10 points came from the 5 games where we didn’t have Johansson in charge. It’s almost as if we were a much better team without him.

Statement on the club’s website;

Club, we actively encourage constructive and engaging dialogue and feedback from supporters and the wider community that we serve. We respect and appreciate these views and endeavour to address any genuine issues or concerns.

Recently, as CEO, I have identified some social media postings, which have been hugely unacceptable as they contained personal attacks on Club employees and their families. On behalf of the Club and our employees, I made the decision to block these posters.

Whilst banter and opinion are what makes this game we all love such a major part of our lives, online personal attacks have no place in society or indeed our social media platforms. I personally have met with many fans to talk through their issues, and whilst we sometimes didn’t get to a consensus, we appreciated and respected each other’s views, and agreed that we wanted the same thing for our Club.

I’ve always believed that face to face dialogue can sort many things and with that in mind, I would welcome anyone who has been blocked to come in and talk through the reasons and see if we can move forward as the last thing I want to do as CEO, is create division. Additionally, I offer the same opportunity for any supporter to do the same. My email is ceo@gmfc.net and I look forward to arranging meetings.

I follow quite a lot of Morton supporters online and have not seen one tweet that could be classed as a “hugely unacceptable personal attack”. Someone was blocked for tweeting “what a joke” ffs. Utter shite coming from the club as per.

That's a fucking nightmare. I'll block you for the slightest dissent but if you don't like it arrange a meeting with me.

How about not blocking your own supporters and then ask them to take their own time out to sort it?

I'm not even on Twitter but Chief Execs should not be going near social media if they've no idea what they're doing with it.

Peter Weatherson is the greatest player since Ritchie, and should be assigned 'chairman for life'

I’ve been invited to a meeting with him.

I’m yet to reply, but if it suits him, probably Wednesday is my best bet. A mate did suggest to me that this would be his preferred course of action as a meeting would offer less chance of him being implicated for saying something that he shouldn’t than an e-mail exchange.

And the spelling in his e-mail to me isn’t any better than in the original tweet about blocking folk.

It also mentions the social media code of conduct. Are fans subject to rules now? If people are ott then fair enough but that's clearly not the case. If they are ott then they'd probably get thrown off twitter anyway if reported.

This is worse than Hawke’s letters. He’s making the club look like a completely tinpot laughing stock - which it is - and it’s playing out on social media for the national media and fans of every other club in the country to point and laugh.

Aye, at least the Hawke letters weren't an outburst on a Sunday night and he had an excuse (in his opinion) of police involvement.
