How fucking shite is Peter Grant btw? Woeful footballer.

Aye, he’s terrible. Was shiting myself any time the ball went near him. He’ll be stinking out Stenhousemuir or Stirling Albion by the start of next season.

Another absolute waste of a jersey was Kyle Jacobs- astonished to see someone saying he should’ve been given man of the match. Other than a well taken penalty he was abysmal, a complete passenger with a heart the size of a pea. He’s a total shitebag.

Those were two of the established Championship players that should’ve been absolutely fine in this team but have been horrendous. Hopkin’s got the most important month of his managerial career in front of him now, I don’t have a great deal of faith in him sorting out this mess.

I thought Jacobs did better after moving to wing back (then full back). He's also got weaknesses in that role, but I think he looks closer to being competent there than he does in midfield (where he may as well take a seat and watch the match, for all the good he does).

Did anyone keep track of all the formation changes we went through yesterday? Man City would have struggled with all that deckchair shuffling, never mind a crap relegation-rabble like ours.

Our best period in the game came in the 2nd half after McAlister went over to have a go at Hopkin on the touchline and Cadden and Nesbitt dropped a bit deeper to start playing the ball on the deck.

Will Hopkin ever realise that defenders who cant pass playing long balls to a CF who can't run just isn't going to work?

McAlister in hospitality talking about the lack of experience and a team with players in their first season of professional football. Must be getting told to come out with that nonsense.

Need to ditch the guy hosting that too. Would have been nice to get a thanks from the ceo too.

Bobby fucking Barr & Robert Thomson (as well some of our own support) now pleading for Jim Duffy’s return. Get them all directly in the sea.

Agreed. Get them to fuck

Jimbo is a major part of the problem. Punt him asap let alone make him captain.

The state of Hopkin’s comments in this:

https://www.nottheoldfirm.com/interview/hopkin-bemoans-individual-mistakes-in-morton-defeat/

“Teams aren’t cutting us open it’s individual errors” - I take it he wasn’t watching as Thistle cut us open down the left every time yesterday.

And for this comment saying Partick have a team full of Premiership players

It’s the “inexperience” stuff that annoys me the most. Rogers, Baird, McHugh, Sutton, Grant, Muirhead, Millar, Mcallister, Jacobs, King, Nesbitt, Cadden & McLean literally have hundreds of games at this or higher levels. Welsh & Livingstone are new to first team football, and the likes of Ramsbottom & Salkeld are having to jump up a level, but it isn’t the team of boys Hopkin so often tries to make out it is. 3rd most experienced squad in the division, I beleive.

Hopkin shouting for our only player left up for the corner for their 2nd goal, Cadden, to come back in to defend. Leaving 2 thistle players sitting at the back for them with all Morton players in the box and we STILL concede. Unbelievable.

It really does reinforce Hopkin's pishness when you can actually hear him on the touchline. He contributes absolutely nothing useful, about the only thing he does is shout at Lyon to move a bit at dead balls and the ball nebwe goes near him.

The whole team is rotten. The keeper is uninspiring, Welsh is rubbish, Grant plumbs Page levels of shite and quite literally cannot head or kick a ball to an acceptable standard for an average game of fives, Livingstone presumably got a senior contract by collecting coupons in the Sunday Post. Jacobs had an alright first half before reverting to type later on, Cadden had a poor game (which he's entitled to, in fairness), Nesbitt was always a threat but couldn't get in to the game and ran out of ideas by the end which is natural enough. Sutton shouldn't be starting every game.

Special mention for McAlister, who should be lucky to start another game. An absolutely pathetic excuse for a captain, compounded by the drivel he was spouting in hospitality after. At least take a wee bit of responsibility rather than bleating on about inexperience, which seems very much like a way of absolving himself of any culpability.

Also, Gerry McDade is a boring cunt. Shite patter and doesn't shut up.

Would have been nice to get a thanks from the ceo too.

Should the CEO personally thank the fans who watch that drivel in the Cowshed every week, or should that only apply to those having a pished up jolly in the prawn sandwich suite?

There’s about a million more pressing issues that the CEO should be dealing with right now than massaging your ego regardless.

The site is supposed to be a place for the extended 'family' of Morton supporters - having an affinity with people that you don't know, because you share a love of your local football club. It's not supposed to be about point scoring and showing how 'clever' or 'funny' you are, or just being downright rude and offensive to people you don't know, because you can get away with it. Unfortunately, it seems the classic case of people who have little standing/presence in real life, use this forum as a way of making themselves feel as if they are something. It's sad, and I've said that before..

So, having been on Morton forums for about 15 years I guess, I've had enough... well done t*ssers, another Morton supporter driven away. You can all feel happy at how 'clever' you are

It’s clear that there needs to be a serious rethink about our lineup going forward, as yesterday’s nonsense simply cannot be allowed to continue. - - Nesbitt has already said that he prefers playing in the centre of the park, so stop shunting him out wide instead.

- He should be playing off a new centre forward - which should be our top priority in the transfer window - or McHugh as an alternative option.

- Sutton should be left for emergencies only as all but the most gormless outfits have worked that tactic out already.

- Salkeld or one of our other 27 wingers should be recalled for the right hand side, with Cadden on the left.

All of the above would give us a genuine attacking threat and an ability to press the opposition, as opposed to the no chances from open play created by our defensive shitebag tactics yesterday. To win games though it needs an improved central midfield than what we have, by adding a genuinely good central midfielder has to be our no. 2 priority once the window opens and by never playing McAlister and Jacobs in the same midfield again.

Aye, it’s a common practice, at least at Cappielow for the CEO or chairman to make an appearance. And to be fair to McKinnon, he’s actually been pretty prominent in meeting and greeting fans at games, be it in hospitality, on terraces and in and around pubs, car parks and social clubs.

But when the hierarchy are posted missing after a truly dreadful day like that, then questions are quite rightly asked. They’ve created an expectation that they’ll answer questions in hospitality after games, so a no show when the going gets extremely tough is going to put them in the firing line.

VT’s right in saying there’s a million other things, but every single little flaw should be getting pointed out, no matter how insignificant it might be in the grand scheme of how fucked the club is.

Nothing to do with ego but when you've got people (not me) paying over a grand to sponsor games then you'd expect him to thank them.

Regardless of the above though, it’s worth seriously questioning whether improving to finish 8th and some gormless celebration of ‘survival’ is in the genuine interests of this football club going forward. The club needs gutting from top to bottom as well as a level-headed rethink of what it is hoping to achieve and how it is realistically going to get there. This could involve a change to a more flexible mix of full and part time playing staff, as opposed to the bargain bin dross that we’re relying on right now. But none of that is going to happen while the focus is on where the next handful of points will come from in this division: indeed it only took yet another bleaching in the Highlands to turn yet another manager away from his supposed philosophy and straight to the negative dung that Johansson was offering last time round.

I’ve got no illusions about how different an experience seaside league football would be under this dying regime, but the critical task right now is to put the club on a proper footing rather than linger and stink out the second tier for another twelve months. The latter is much more likely to turn us into another Airdrie outfit with no fanbase than a few seasons doing a serious rebuild job in the division below.

How do you know that he didn’t thank them? All you know is that the CEO didn’t appear in the hospitality lounge; which given yesterday’s result and the transfer window opening next week is a bit like top table diners on the Titanic whinging that the captain was too busy dealing with an iceberg to show up to deliver witty anecdotes at dinner.

This is either about your bruised ego or you’re seriously dense enough to think that the CEO of a financially decrepit football club doesn’t thank major backers because it didn’t happen in your esteemed company. I guess it’s up to you to choose which hill you wish to gormlessly die on.
