Clearly cashing out and only 30. Sad stuff.

He's unlikely to get a big pay day or move up the leagues at that age. If he's getting a decent wages and gets more time to pursue a career for when he finishes with football (as most players at that level do) then it's the sensible thing to do for him and his family.

There's obviously a lack of ambition but his long term financial security will be more important to him now.

Absolute bollocks.

He could have stayed at Morton where he was highly regarded and got himself a testimonial and secure employment for another few years but no, he when to Falkirk, of all clubs. There would have been other clubs he could have moved to, but FALKIRK!?!

He deserves everything he gets, even if that means playing for some no-mark Fife bumpkins in the point-and-laugh leagues en-route to being the next Kieran McAnespie.

He must rue the day when he thought he was too good for us.

He went to Falkirk for a much bigger wage and presumably has a good deal at Kelty Hearts. They were throwing money at players at the time.

I don't think there's anyone on this board who wouldn't leave their job for almost double their wages.

There’s no doubt he'll look back at his career with a lot of regrets but, at his age, it's all about looking after himself and his family

Kelty have one of two outcomes in their future: either they pass League Two on their way up, or they stall in the LL, and the support (financial and numerical) just drifts away.

Can't believe Tidser's dropped to the LL, and will the money really be that good?

By all accounts Tidser looked done at Falkirk this season. It’s pretty young for that, but he has never been a good athlete. Signing for Kelty Hearts is pretty much acknowledging that his best days are past him... he’s now just trying to get as much money as he can - can’t blame him. Tidser’s career was ultimately pretty disappointing, majorly held back by a lack of speed and athleticism.

Never been a good athlete  just because he wasn’t running about a lot doesn’t mean he wasn’t an excellent footballer at our level.

Who else got ‘irnbru’ in the Birthday Caird Pish About Tidser’s Poor, Wee, Rag-Wearing Family Sweep?

If this mercenary was so interested in securing his long-term financial future at 30, you would think he’d take the opportunity to build up his own business while still playing at a respectable level of part time football. Instead he’s gone for yet another ‘one last pay cheque’ option, in a manner that makes Rory McAllister’s pointless ‘record breaking exploits’ in the fourth tier seem dignified by comparison.

I reckon his next move will be to try and walk into a manager’s job despite having no credible experience whatsoever, just like James Grady did in 2009. It’ll be ‘for the love of the game’ and ‘to teach a profound football philosophy’ of course; rather than a desire to continue sucking money out of the game by any means possible.

The site is supposed to be a place for the extended 'family' of Morton supporters - having an affinity with people that you don't know, because you share a love of your local football club. It's not supposed to be about point scoring and showing how 'clever' or 'funny' you are, or just being downright rude and offensive to people you don't know, because you can get away with it. Unfortunately, it seems the classic case of people who have little standing/presence in real life, use this forum as a way of making themselves feel as if they are something. It's sad, and I've said that before..

So, having been on Morton forums for about 15 years I guess, I've had enough... well done t*ssers, another Morton supporter driven away. You can all feel happy at how 'clever' you are

When on form Tidser played to his strengths and this served him well. I wouldn't say he was majorly held back by his lack of pace. Obviously if he had it he would have been a completely different player and played at a higher level but you could say that about most players.

From scoring the winner against Dundee United in our final game last season to a league game against Dalbeattie Star in 9 months. That's some career path.

Yep, he's totally fucked it for himself with Morton. He was well on the way to becoming a legend here, in spite of our relative lack of success in his time at Cappielow. With a testimonial sitting waiting on him, and his own business up and running anyway, finance shouldn't have been a massive concern to him.

Of course, we don't know Tidser's financial position regardless of having a decent idea of what he was on at Morton and Falkirk, but he chose to chase the big payday and most likely got it with Falkirk's pay off. But at what cost?

There would probably have been a job inside the club waiting for him with Morton helping him through his coaching badges if he wished, he'd have been in pretty high demand further down the line to be wined and dined, asked to speak at events etc. but chose to take the devil's shilling.

His prerogative, but I very much doubt he's a poor wee pauper that needed that move in order to secure him after retiring from football because he'd have been unemployable after that.

I remember arguing the case against Jai Quitongo being given bad advice on leaving Morton as most without genuine feelings for Morton would probably consider getting out of here for another full time club a wise move, but in some cases, maybe the grass isn't always greener.

He might have a healthy bank balance after his two recent moves, but when he looks back on his career, I'm sure there'll be some major regrets at how it panned out. Fuck him.

Spot on. In 10 years that money will be long gone and in another 10 years he will be forgotten about by fans of every club he's ever been at, except some of us who will never forgive him for being a snake anyway. It wasn't a life changing amount of money he left for, it won't last any great amount of time but at least he can tell his grandkids about the heady heights of Edusport Academy away.

There's good money to be made working with things like Asbestos but fuck doing that for a living.

Okay you've made an excellent case, Herbalife and Kelty Hearts it is then.

So in other words, a lack of pace limited his opportunities, i.e. held him back.

Anyway, I struggle to really care too much about Tidser. In purely sporting terms it's embarrassing for him to have plunged so low so quickly, but some players simply aren't that arsed about football and will be happy enough as long as they get paid well.

His decisions haven't made for the best of footballing careers but I'm sure he's always been putting his family first rather than that.

Tidser will probably still be wheeled out at hospitality here in 10/20 years after we’ve achieved nothing in that timeframe and had few other more notable players. If it were up to me he wouldn’t darken the club’s door again, but I just have a feeling he’ll wind up back here in some capacity.
