QOTS attribute theirs to a drop in attendances, our average attendances are pretty static.
Falkirk blamed the cost of the Academy which they have binned and also will feel the hit from their current level as a bottom feeder in this league instead of the regular title challenger they are perceived to be. Massive drop in prize money there (not to mention compensations galore).
Morton have been happy with the ceiling of middle to lower Championship, with little to no drive to win new revenue on the marketing front. With crowds averaging the same, is it any wonder the losses are static?
Actually giving a **** about revenue generation and marketing would help stem that as would aiming slightly higher (no surprise we did turn a profit when we rose a little higher and didn't write off cup participation).
Cutting our cloth, will only harm that by having us lower or worse, leading to another embarrassing costly relegation
The club have made little effort in terms of marketing and revenue generation beyond expecting people to come to games. There’s no marketing strategy, there’s no plan for generating income and instead the response is to simply cut costs and make the fans suffer. Even with attracting people to the games, it’s limited to a post on Twitter saying “btw tickets are on sale”, there’s no real drive to attract new fans/customers on a game by game basis. they just expect the hardcore to turn up and now are adjusting costs accordingly, rather than trying to remedy the situation by making Morton an attractive brand, and an attractive way to spend a Saturday afternoon.
Jonathan is off work sick just now I believe, Brendan will be doing his best to keep some content coming out while also trying to do his own job. Think missing Jonathan has highlighted how good a job he does and has done over the last couple of seasons.
