#1096416 The Big 2018-19 Squad Thread

Posted by vikingTON on 18 July 2018 - 06:19 PM

Keenan however, is clearly scrambling for all sorts of Scott McLaughlin-esque relevance with the Morton support with that sort of tweet.

Let’s stop talking about them and keep them irrelevant.

Disagree with this approach for two reasons.

i) This isn't some generic, s*** 'bantz' between fellow footballers in a dressing room - this is a couple of senior, washed up, crap failures with a snickering bellend like O'Ware in tow trying to call out a player at the very beginning of their career for a lack of professionalism - a player who they almost certainly have had no meaningful interaction with. Tumilty himself probably doesn't need anyone to give him hauners against that job lot, but their behaviour should publicly be called out to highlight the players involved as arrogant cretins. Perhaps a negative storm on social media will affect their future employment chances or, at the very least, stop them from getting the type of attention that the likes of Keenan really crave - being treated as a fascinating 'personality' of lower league football as opposed to just being a complete and utter moron who stunk the place out.

2) Ignoring the comments is also boring whereas The Famous reducing Keenan or McAnespie to a frothing mess via social media trolling would be both fun and piss-easy to accomplish, because they're quite clearly thick as ****.

Get them hounded.

Well done Crawford, you've just publicly invited all our rivals to help themselves to our best players. Well played.

Yep. Can only imagine their possible availablility was a complete mystery to clubs and agents until that statement was made.

Thinks that will have any bearing when clubs could have been speaking to them since January.

Ten years on, and after spending the whole season in the play off positions without threatening to actually win the league, former manager Jim McInally's Peterhead fail spectacularly at the first hurdle once we get down to the nitty gritty. Can't think where I've seen this story before.

Another play off failure for oor Jim, better hope there are no sectarian bigots that are losing their patience in the Peterhead support.

Fantastic :D .

#1109887 January Transfer Window Thread

Posted by LargsTON on 28 January 2019 - 12:45 PM

Birthday caird pish. Tidser already has a deal and guaranteed income until the summer and has been treated far better by the club than just about anyone could expect in the professional game (it hasn't been a one-way deal of course; if he was gubbins then he'd have been emptied long ago).

The elephant in the room here is not the big bad board for not throwing around new deals for players long in advance - it is the clueless idiot in the dugout who doesn't know how to use Tidser or any other of his key players in the team. In fact, we can't say for sure whether TTGJ would even offer Tidser a new deal.

The best chance that the club has of retaining Tidser and other key players is to remove the incompetent clown mismanaging them on a weekly basis. That is the decision that the board has to make and only by failing to do that in good time would they have contributed to a player's departure.

So his family are in fact already 'being fed' from wages that he has guaranteed until the summer and he has several options to consider then. And he already has a side business outside of football to operate as well. 95% of footballers in Scottish professional football would be delighted to have that level of financial security already in place - so let's not pretend that financial necessity dictates a move.

Players can justifiably leave to play at a higher level (as the Dundee offer on the table might provide) and certainly to stop warming the bench for a Finnish dud; making a sideways or downward move just because there's more money on the table is sheer mercenary behaviour. It would be no more acceptable coming from Tidser than it was when a parade of players dropped to the fourth tier to play for a ridiculous village outfit like Gretna.

You talk absolute pish at times.

#1107916 Morton vs Foreign Opposition

We actually won that game 3-2 against Zenit Leningrad, in 1972.

My sister in law found this badge on Ebay a few years ago and got it for my Christmas;

There was of course the 1-3 defeat by Unirea Urziceni in 2009 as well, before they drew Rangers in the Champions League.

A few years later, they died. And so did Unirea Urziceni.

Good luck to Duffy is what I say. Took us to the playoff and Hampden and seems a decent guy. He gets the Partick job then good luck to him.

Nah- I liked him too, but f*ck wishing a guy who could be going to one of our direct rivals well. especially a horrible wee club like them.

We’re Morton fans, not Jim Duffy fans. Hope he has a nightmare and they go down in the play offs, joining those peasants from Grangemouth in League One.

#1093968 The KKK Bin Pub Review Thread

The KKK Bin Pub Review #5 - The Thistle Bar

Firstly, readers who aren't clued up on the comings and goings of Greater Greenock's thriving bin pub scene will be wondering: where the **** is 'The Thistle Bar'?

A: The Thistle is a bin pub on the site of the former Lynedoch Bar, which did a Rangers after either i) sectarian-based violence in the premises or ii) running a series of 'special' opening times and being caught by the pigs a few years ago. It doesn't open for the new-fangled 'derby' matches involving the bigots - which leaves this magnificent bin pristine for the rest of us during the year.

Good: As the picture suggests, the owners of The Thistle are trying very hard to make it something more than a bin pub - a super fun karaoke bar to be precise. But just like you can't take the Big Mags effect out of a Raploch wean, you can't take the 'bin' out of what used to be the ****ing Lynedoch either. When popular with the locals, the pub feels like its always one spilled pint away from a mass rammy. Which is exactly how it should be.

The owners best intentions pay off in the service, which is undoubtedly the best available even by Greenock's magnificent standards in watering holes. Big boy measures of Smirnoff cost a mere £1.50 with pints at £2.50.  In return, guests are able to watch the football on Sky as well as BT Sport without having to use some buckshee box that the owner of the pub took out of a skip the night before, as well as having use of a pool table. At the moment they're flogging Tennents at £2 a pint and a Glens with dash for £1.40 - making it by far the cheapest pub in the town that doesn't serve Tiger.

Bad: Nothing to report from the official KKK visit.

Mixed: The pub doesn't have an authentic wine list - El Dorado or Buckfast in their rightful storage conditions - but it does offer the inferior, English swill as part of a Bucky-bomb for £1.50. The official KKK Bin Pub Guide is agnostic about this situation.

Rating: 3Ks out of 3. Offering all required amenities for a low price, big measures and a taste of malice in the air, The Thistle wins a hearty KKK stamp of approval as a bin pub. Anyone who chooses to trot along to the James Watt or even worse, that Tail of the Bank monstrosity instead of taking the brief detour up to it from Greenock's Golden Mile needs to take a long hard ****ing look at themselves. But the owners of The Thistle are making an effort - which means that for all its impeccable bin qualities it hasn't built up the character features that separate the best bins of all from the rest. Close but no cigar.

#1090588 The Big 2018-19 Squad Thread

Posted by dunning1874 on 02 May 2018 - 10:40 AM

I know that part of Duffy's modus operandi is to make the players feel comfortable in their environment, but the fact the players stating their bemusement really begins to point to a club with absolutely no real ambition. If the players believe that finishing 7th is acceptable then we need a manager who's going to give them a boot up the arse.

Yeah, that the players seem to be perplexed by this says a lot about the ingrained attitude in the squad.

I felt there was a telling slip from Duffy on the radio last night. Gary Naysmith was talking about how tight the league is and how anyone can beat anyone, usual clichés, and Duffy came in to mention beating Dundee United 3-0 as an example. He then said words to the effect of 'for Morton to beat Dundee United 3-0, to beat Dundee United at all, but especially to win 3-0 at Tannadice is unheard of.'

If that's a manager's attitude, that Dundee United are basically still a European Cup semi-final stature of team and little Morton can't possibly be expected to compete with them regardless of how bad they get on the pitch, is it any wonder the players downed tools and settled for fourth as something to be celebrated a year ago when we were in a position to comfortably finish second ahead of them?

The plucky little Morton attitude needs purged.

MacDonald like everyone else should have to earn his way up to getting a management job at The Famous. While we shouldn’t be handing it to a complete novice again, I suspect the club will swing to the other extreme and target only ‘good fitba men*’ for the role.

Morning all.

Greenock Morton, First Division, Season 2008/09

Jenkins in the starting 11: P20, W11, D5, L4
Jenkins not in the starting 11: P16, W1, D6, L9

I’m sure that’s just a coincidence though and he definitely wasn’t carrying us by virtue of being the best midfielder at the club by a mile.

Still waiting on an answer tbf

I don't think he will, to be honest. I expect some lame 'porky' jibe from him for bringing the subject back to the top again, when he was hoping it was going to be conveniently buried. No doubt his groomer will also try and fail at fighting his battle for him as well. Again.

Still, his son being one of them....

If the clique and their acolytes/fanboys ( ie you) can't handle a bit of dissent, that's tough.

It's a s*** job but somebody has to do it. Watch you don't fall off that bandwagon Taunton.

Do shut up you scabby dildo.
