  1. 1. What do you think has happened with Tidser?

    • Signed a pre-contract elsewhere
    • Signed a new deal with Morton
    • Nothing
    • Don't know

It's not though.

But moving to a new employer of ill repute, one who had specifically wronged my previous employer myself, my colleagues and everyone else associated with my previous employer just a few months earlier means there's more to consider than just the finances.

Tidser isn't stupid, he knows this (his comments about some people having opinions on it show that). He knows there will, rightfully, be a backlash from some quarters but he decided to do it regardless.

He made a mercenary decision in self interest, disregarding what had gone on before.

**** him.

mibbe he'll change his mind when he reads youre post lol

The attraction of playing for a manager who had you playing at your best on a long term contract on good money and going for promotion, or stay around at a club who appear to have downed tools and are preparing for relegation if we’re going on a break even budget. Tough one.

Pretty sure that playing regularly in the top flight marks the actual peak of Tidser's career rather than 'playing well for three games in a dung division'. The rest of your post is based on a false dichotomy: no one is saying that he is obliged to play for Morton next season. We already know however that Falkirk aren't the only deal on the table and certainly wouldn't be the only club interested in a 29 year old Michael Tidser in the summer. Nor are they even close to being the biggest nor most ambitious football club in that discussion either, so the idea that he had to join up with King Snake to Fulfil His Football Ambitions is utter nonsense as well.

The lengths that some people are willing to go to in mitigating for this mercenary snake defies belief by now.

The site is supposed to be a place for the extended 'family' of Morton supporters - having an affinity with people that you don't know, because you share a love of your local football club. It's not supposed to be about point scoring and showing how 'clever' or 'funny' you are, or just being downright rude and offensive to people you don't know, because you can get away with it. Unfortunately, it seems the classic case of people who have little standing/presence in real life, use this forum as a way of making themselves feel as if they are something. It's sad, and I've said that before..

So, having been on Morton forums for about 15 years I guess, I've had enough... well done t*ssers, another Morton supporter driven away. You can all feel happy at how 'clever' you are

Definitely McKinnon with the magic touch. No other manager is intelligent enough to get the best out of a good player. Absolutely nothing to do with the tactical morons we employ.

And with literally nobody saying he should be here next season, the point was spectacularly missed.

Don't think that post suggests he would change his mind, made some good/valid points, so not really sure its a 'lol' moment?

Anyone who has anything good left to say about Tidser after this decision, is one for the watching. The guy could have went to any other club for more money & I don't think you could argue, but to go to Falkirk after what has happened this season, shows the guy up to be an absolute helmet, with zero moral compass and as far as im concerned, he should rightly get hounded by any sensible Morton fan from here until eternity.

Which clubs are handing out multi year contracts on greatly increased wages to 29 year olds who have played the majority of their career in the Scottish championship?

Good people will do good things, bad people will do bad things, but only with religion do good people do bad things!

I really don't know what exactly it is people expect him to do. As I said before, I don't think it's unreasonable to suggest that playing at the business end of the Championship as the main man in your team could be more appealing than slugging it out at the bottom of the top flight.

With that in mind, here's obviously a gamble involved in whether or not Falkirk stay up - there's little doubt that they will, hasn't really been for a while - but if they're offering a multi-year deal on good money then it's likely a safer option than anybody else is offering.

All this "lacking a moral compass", "manager of ill-repute" patter is nonsense that should be left to Jed_MaxwellTon.

He already had an offer on the table from Dundee champ; as confirmed when his agent was publicly whoring Tidser in any media outlet that would listen just two months ago.

Thanks for playing anyway.

A question that would be far more appropriately and commonly answered in the summer.

If Agents leaking transfer gossip to newspapers is your reliable source then I'd probably stop playing.

Thats hardly confirmation of greatly increased terms and a multi-year deal. The wages of a squad player for a lower-end Premiership club wont be much better than a first team player at the top end of the championship, if at all.

This is all hypothetical anyway because no one knows the truth. Are folk seriously suggesting he should have taken e.g. £800-900 p/w from Dundee on a 1-year deal instead of £1200-1300 p/w on a 2-year deal from Falkirk?

Except that it wasn't mere 'transfer gossip': it was news that a contract offer had been placed on the table with the blatantly obvious aim of getting GMFC to respond to that. Do you believe that Dundee made a contract offer or not? A simple yes or no answer will suffice to end this posturing nonsense from yourself.

Except that there's not much to suggest that Falkirk will be playing at the business end of this division any time soon. They were in a very similar position to this last season and ended up emptying their previous 'saviour' Paul Hartley after a handful of league games. Indeed they're still more likely to be playing in the seaside leagues than winning the Championship next season.

Dundee by contrast are already in the top flight and are likely to remain there next season. They're also a historically large club - as opposed to tinpot outfits in the top flight like Hamilton or Livingston - who have external backing at the moment and so will themselves be targeting a much better campaign next time round. Granted they're a time-honoured omnishambles of a football club but Falkirk's near-decade of utter failure at this level has by now comfortably put them in the shade on that score.

Ambition or appeal simply doesn't come into this decision; it is entirely about being a mercenary and a snake.
