alloa v morton

If ever you want proof that we football fans are a fickle lot, read the posts on here after the last three games.

Incidentally how many of us got our championship predictions correct this week?

None of which means that I don't think we should have enough about us to beat Alloa!

I agree,There appears an agenda that goes beyond any balanced tactical observations.Considering JJ is the 3rd Manager in 9 months, with no evident budget, the vitriol is verging on just sheer blind ignorance. But some people are fickle and will never change regardless.

One decision The Manager should have made earlier today was that Michael Tidser appeared well off the pace from the off.Huge fan of Tids but he was pretty pedestrian against a high energy Alloa Team.

Hiya Jean.

This. We have some of the worst forwards in the league, error-prone fullbacks and both of our keepers can't find a man even 50% of the time. Folk are hounding the manager because we're not playing Dortmund football - it's nonsense.

Erm yes because Alloa have got Messi and Suarez playing up front and Jordi Alba (Scott Taggart) at full back. Yet they ripped TTGJ’s side up for arse paper in the second half as usual.

Teams and players look far, far worse than their level under crap management. They look far more than the sum of their parts under a decent manager, which Goodwin is. And that’s what we’re dealing with right now.

The site is supposed to be a place for the extended 'family' of Morton supporters - having an affinity with people that you don't know, because you share a love of your local football club. It's not supposed to be about point scoring and showing how 'clever' or 'funny' you are, or just being downright rude and offensive to people you don't know, because you can get away with it. Unfortunately, it seems the classic case of people who have little standing/presence in real life, use this forum as a way of making themselves feel as if they are something. It's sad, and I've said that before..

So, having been on Morton forums for about 15 years I guess, I've had enough... well done t*ssers, another Morton supporter driven away. You can all feel happy at how 'clever' you are

That was brutal. We are so so poor to watch but you don't mind it as much if you are picking up results. We played a back 5 for 90 mins today yet still conceded 2 goals and could have been more! The lack of creativity is unbelievable. A part time team ran all over us and we had no answer to it, well we did, but Robert Thomson is the wrong answer!

Whist nothing came off for McHugh, the lack of support around him was alarming. Felt for Telfer as he put in a hell of a shift, shame the "shape" is so fecking defensive!

We badly need some quality in the wide and forward areas!

Its feckin tough being a Morton fan. Good numbers travelled and we were let down once again.

Not good enough.

From Kenny Crawford on Twitter -

“🗣 Morton’s Jonatan Johansson:

“I’ve never seen a goal like that, even when I was a kid. It’s a terrible goal to lose. You can’t say anything else. We should’ve cleared it better & Kerr needs to just kick it out. That’s hardest defeat so far because we were in control 1st half.”

Sure it is, Guardiola.

Sit down.

The facts speak for themselves champ; the French army has got a better record of attacking performance than the Finnish dunce.

McAllistair and Millar were holding today so not sure about playing deep.I think it was more about Tidser not on the pace.

Wasn't there, but if you have a three man midfield and only one striker and two of the three midfielders are sitting deep then the other one has no choice but to be back with them.

Alloa utterly bossed is start to finish. I though Gaston was poor at crosses but Scully took that to a whole new level today.

Remember when we signed Scully, Thistle fans were rubbing their hands together when we were due to play them.... saying just get plenty of crosses in and we'll be sorted. A known dud.

We have by far the poorest squad we've had since we got promoted to the Championship. JJ appears to be pretty clueless, but he really is working with some dross.

Like I said, one striker. If Telfer was playing the same role as against Ross County, presumably his designated role was to have the ball shelled at his head and battle manfully for lost causes.

If you play a line of 5 across your box then by definition the midfield has to play deep too. There's no other way it can work, you can't have such a deep line and still have one midfielder cutting about pulling the strings behind the forward.

It was not what you specifically said but anyway as you were not there let me help you Tidser was not the defensive midfielder and had plenty of opportunity to go forward but did not take the initiative.

Teller played well and his off the ball was as good as I have seen from him..put in a shift which was a positive.

Just because somebody isn't the designated holding midfielder doesn't mean they're not playing deep. If the defensive line is deep then so is the midfield and the forward(s) become isolated: the whole team needs to move forward to allow the creative players get into dangerous areas.

You don't need to have been at the game today to know that's the case. We saw it on Friday, but it's basic football.
