Whacking Day Part II - Grangemouth Edition

Also, and this might just be me, but I'm not too keen on all the media stuff he's doing. If things were going well, fine, but when it clearly isn't it makes it look like you're not fully focussed. Hard to imagine an experienced, suitably ruthless manager allowing camera crews in when things aren't going well.

The only angle left for the TTGJ’s fluffers is to blindly insist that he’s going to do superbly in the transfer market with all his contacts. That might (but probably won’t) be true, but that would only be a pitch for him to become a Director of Footbal and not remain as a manager. He’s clearly gubbins at the first team management and coaching aspects of his job, which we quite clearly need to excel in to reach our stated goal of top flight football.

The site is supposed to be a place for the extended 'family' of Morton supporters - having an affinity with people that you don't know, because you share a love of your local football club. It's not supposed to be about point scoring and showing how 'clever' or 'funny' you are, or just being downright rude and offensive to people you don't know, because you can get away with it. Unfortunately, it seems the classic case of people who have little standing/presence in real life, use this forum as a way of making themselves feel as if they are something. It's sad, and I've said that before..

So, having been on Morton forums for about 15 years I guess, I've had enough... well done t*ssers, another Morton supporter driven away. You can all feel happy at how 'clever' you are

No doubt our esteemed chief exec gave this the OK.

He’s getting judged and is being found wanting right now. If he wanted a free pass to the transfer window then he shouldn’t have overseen a parade of crap results over the last few months.

If we want a manager who will reliably get what the team needs in the transfer window then we should appoint Rowan Alexander. If we want something more than that then a new manager is required regardless.

TTGJ offers a solution to literally none of our club’s problems. It’s time to cut our losses.

Thank fuck you've stopped the Wake shite.

Thank **** you've stopped the Wake s***e.

The ‘Wake shite’ will be resuming as soon as we’ve emptied this useless clown from the dugout. After all he was a better candidate for the job in the first place, and better than Gary Caldwell who people were fawning over before stinking the place out at Partick.

Eventually the majority of the fanbase will accept that they got it wrong and we’ll have the only manager that this once-proud club deserves.

Indeed. Again, maybe it's just me, but I think it reflects very badly on the club, it makes us look like a two-bob outfit that's just grateful to have a big name involved. If Johanssen is happy to have cameras in when his team are not performing close to well enough, it tells us a lot about his mentality.

He's clearly a nice, likeable and intelligent guy but that doesn't cut it. I would genuinely love to see him prove me wrong but it's blatantly obvious that management ain't for him.

I can see both sides - they may feel that any publicity is good publicity, and that it reflects well on us to have this kind of media interest. On the other hand, I doubt it'll be a flattering portrayal.

"Greenock Morton, toiling in mid-table yet again".

I do agree that publicity could be good, but what do we actually get? It's not putting 3 points on the table or good performances on the park.

Again, I do acknowledge that it's maybe not a big deal but it just strikes me as looking like a club and manager who isn't aware that it's performance is miles off of acceptable. Morton as a club are not close to as ruthless as it should be: fuck a wee media profile, fuck being "open". It's a shite state of affairs and we shouldn't be inviting people in to have a look.

What's all this about a TV crew kicking about?

https://twitter.com/morton_fc/status/1073901830235672577?s=21

There was something a while ago about the manager being on some Sky thing as well. I get he might be interesting but if he really thinks his players are letting him down it should be a no go for any external parties.

Morton's entire public facade is awful though. Nothing against Jonathan, but we really should be looking at bringing in a proper PR/marketing rep, even if it's just a student or whatever. Every issue is communicated badly, the social media posts are dull, the website is boring: look at the turnstile fiasco as an example, the club handled that terribly, to the point of releasing a user guide video a few months into the season. Morton just don't resemble a club that wants to connect with its fan-base.

I watched one of the interviews JJ did and he was taking about moving on to a bigger job down the line.

I admire his confidence as I would be astounded if he were to get another job after us as Jury still out on whether he had it as a manager.
