Chinese Coronavirus threatens Dundee Utd game

No, I think he'll take it up on a voluntary basis in order to boost his CV. And Morton will bite his hand off for the opportunity to save a few quid. I've already suggested something along those lines earlier in the thread.

I can’t see Crawford/the board being keen on a role like that going to a volunteer on a permanent basis. I might be completely wrong on this, or it might be entirely Dave MacKinnon’s call, but I think they’ll feel it’s too important a role (in the sense that the wrong message can seriously fuck things up) and would prefer an employee who can be accountable for it.

Regardless of opinions on the person involved -

If Morton think that (when this all ends) they can rely on a volunteer who works full-time, produces a podcast and goes to Celtic games to run all our Media and Comms then they can go f**k. They've actually made progress this season so if they were to chuck Euan for a volunteer then they'd be showing nothing but contempt for us.**

** ETA - I'd be surprised if he wanted to focus on Morton over his podcast. I wouldn't be surprised if Morton tried to cheapskate it.

Don't really see how he could do that role full time, for free, whilst being a teacher.

Do we need to wait for the bell to ring before we hear about a signing or a match preview?

I can't see it.

Time will tell, I'm no great fan of the lad Boyle, but I hope you're all right.

I think the media officer role is part time anyway.

I'm a bit on the fence now. What troubled me initially was the tone of the now deleted Tweets from person who's taken over (then the rant where he didn't really address the valid concerns and was looking for sympathy).

All this change, zero continuity. Our content is still pretty random and vary rarely consistent, other than the shit wowzerooney patter

Get someone in with a proper marketing/social media background, give them the right kit to do the job and the thing runs itself.

Too many cooks spoiling a rather shit both as it stands.

TIME FOR CHANGE!

Aye, that's still needing looked at. Having someone fairly inexperienced on social media isn't a huge issue but they could have a more robust marketing strategy/ guidelines.

Don't think it would cost too much to get a bit of consultancy on it or get a few hours a month from an agency.

The club have had countless offers from fans over the years to help out on that front and have never taken up support.

The NHS logo the club are currently using is a breach of copyright unless they’ve had permission which I highly doubt.

Putting out random videos of Aidan Nesbitt telling us 5 songs he likes to run to while this is all going on is pointless. All that the official platforms are needed for just now is official updates from the Chief Exec, especially given that they have furloughed the media assistant. It’s fairly clear the boy filling in is being opportunistic and using it for his own gain.

Ah the voice of experience.

The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy.

FTFY

Good one. :D :thumbup2:

In all seriousness, the best solution for this young lad would be to blog and podcast about his REAL favourite club, as they would lap it up all the elementary level poetry, interviews with Frank McAvennie and the likes etc. He wouldnt get a hard time from anyone and he'd probably get a wee bit closer to his dream of being one of the 'From the Terrace' lads.

Lets face it, Morton supporters are difficult cunts to deal with. Even David Hopkin gets a tough time and he looks like a proper nutjob.

He'll realise that's a gradual process. He's already weaselled his in at Greenock Juniors. Morton will be the next step, with Celtic or the SFA probably being the ultimate goal, although there may be another few steps in between.

The poetry, loveheart emojis and NHS profile pictures are beyond nauseating. Just the sort of toe curling shite that will make him fit right in with that horrible lot.

Wow.

This shows exactly what the aim of the voluntary social takeover is, but also puts the club’s furlough funding at risk by showing someone is doing a similar role to one of the furloughed roles.

Wow.

Ehhh...

I've not really given much of a fuck about the whole thing to be honest and given him the benefit of the doubt on this, but that's a bit odd. Sounds like a more senior position than the furloughed media assistant role.

I had started to give the whole situation the benefit of the doubt but the guy really doesn't help himself.
