Yes it is hence why the UK are looking to step into line in the near future.

In order to step into line you quite clearly were out on your own - making nonsense decisions like an absolute tadger - in the first place. Your blind faith in the UK Government’ deference to experts doesn’t stand up to a comparison with any other European state right now.

Fun fact: Austria has just announced the closure of all public schools and banning the gathering of more than five people. It’s also added the UK to Italy and Spain on its travel blacklist, in another vote of confidence for the UK’s super expert handling of the situation.

The site is supposed to be a place for the extended 'family' of Morton supporters - having an affinity with people that you don't know, because you share a love of your local football club. It's not supposed to be about point scoring and showing how 'clever' or 'funny' you are, or just being downright rude and offensive to people you don't know, because you can get away with it. Unfortunately, it seems the classic case of people who have little standing/presence in real life, use this forum as a way of making themselves feel as if they are something. It's sad, and I've said that before..

So, having been on Morton forums for about 15 years I guess, I've had enough... well done t*ssers, another Morton supporter driven away. You can all feel happy at how 'clever' you are

It's more about proximity to the affected than the size of gathering. That is, if Queens Park still played at Hampden and for some reason they had a bumper crowd and opened the whole stadium, you could easily have 5,000 people in the stands with no virtually risk at all (provided they all sat apart.) Conversely you could have 20 people gather for, say, a provicinal football club AGM in a small poorly-ventilated room, and it's effectively the Umbrella Corporation.

There is a rumor that the UK government is doing all this to try to build herd immunity before summer, because due to the UK's latitudinal position, they project this virus coming back harder and stronger in late autumn and winter. Here's hoping that's not the case and that they're just fucking up.

I assume English is not your first language?

(Finland and Germany being 1 and 2 on the 'partial closures' list, which The Guardian with its typical incompetence forgot to include on its graphic)

But hey, we should definitely trust the ability of Boris Johnson and his coterie of behavioural scientist pointyhead weirdo advisers on this one. More schools open, more chance of reaching the 40 million unchecked infections that will solve the problem for us!

Johnson's press conferences on this have been painful. He really doesnt have it in him to remain on message on a single subject for any length of time. You can see his face straining at the edges as he prevents himself spouting a load of tangential rubbish.

Anecdotally - Glasgow city centre felt like it was missing nearly half its usual number of bodies this morning. I'd expect it to be quieter again tomorrow after today's half-arsed advice.

Schools closing Friday.

Hearing rumours of lock down being implemented with police/military patrols. How true that is remains to be seen.

I'd guess "not very". It wouldn't be surprising if the dithering of the last few weeks necessitated a sudden leap to far more draconian measures, but it'd certainly be a surprise if plans for a full-scale military lockdown were somehow being leaked via group chats on WhatsApp.

I agree but in other parts of Europe the police are enforcing a policy of staying at home. The only exceptions are for certain jobs, solo visits to the supermarkets and chemists and solo dog walks (no more than 50 m from your house!). Allowing for the lack of police it would be interesting to see how such a policy was enforced in the UK.

Belgium imposed lock-down from 12:00 today but it's not quite as strict as you describe above. You can still go to work, but only if absolutely necessary, and the employer must have strict rules in place to prevent social contact, or they could be fined or forced to close. You can also leave the house for a walk, jog or cycle with one other person from the same household, and stay 1.5 meters away from other people you may come across. If fact they're actively encouraging people to do this, presumably to prevent the onset of cabin-fever and because they also recognise there could be longer term mental and physical health issues from sitting on your fat arse for perhaps several months. We've already been self isolating and working from home since Saturday and it's been just about bearable so far, but not looking forward to a few months of it.
