Matchday Announcements

Hi Folks,

I'm afraid you're going to have to put up with my questionable taste in music, gaffes and mispronunciations this season as I've accepted an invitation to return as regular announcer.

David will still be about filling in when I can't make it and assisting where required.

We will continue using the @mortontannoy twitter account which you can DM or Tweet your announcement requests.

Non-twitterers can email me direct inverally@hotmail.com or email the club admin@gmfc.net.

We are hoping to mix things a bit this season with regards to pre-match/half-time features which we are looking at and hope to develop in the coming weeks.

One subject which regularly comes up is goal celebration music. I received a message from Graham our SLO this week as he'd been asked the question.

It's a difficult one which everyone has varying opinions on, I'm 50/50. The choice of music, the timing of hitting the button, embarrassment if goal is disallowed etc. The view from trackside can make it difficult to make a quick decision.

Jim McAlister has been asked to gather the players views on it. If they're "up for it" we will take it further, resulting in a fans vote. More on this to follow...

As a nod to DDF I've decided the players will run out to Live is Life tomorrow, and tomorrow only, never to be played again. So please don't despair, it will not be the regular run out tune, that is also being discussed.

If anyone has any ideas on any aspect of related business please let me know either on this thread or drop me an email.

Here's hoping for an enjoyable and successful season.

Cheers

Ally

p.s. Can admin do some sort of link to this topic on Twitter please? I have no idea! I will copy to Facebook pages.

No Goal music for me. When we score is about the only time Morton fans make noise and sing these days so no need to ruin it.

Wouldn't mind comedy sound effects during the game though e.g. the noise of someone slipping on a banana peel if a player falls over etc.

Good people will do good things, bad people will do bad things, but only with religion do good people do bad things!

One of the best games I've been to was Kilmarnock at Cappielow in 2007. We had goal music that night and the place was jumping. I'm all for it if it helps the atmosphere, but no more 'Rawhyde' pre match please!

Agreed on the last bit.

To be fair was it Chelsea Dagger we used to sing along to back in the day? That was alright at the time. Did Falkirk not play is this the way to Amarillo when they scored? I'll take a hard pass on something like that.

If we have to have goal music it should be Guile's theme from Street Fighter cos that goes with everything.

Peter Weatherson is the greatest player since Ritchie, and should be assigned 'chairman for life'

Have to say it really gets on my tits watching home fans celebrate to some catchy tune or other when they score against us, so for that reason alone I'd have a bit of goal music.

As for run out music, I always liked Everton's Z Cars.

Z Cars is my ringtone and the anthem of Tony Bellew. Dunno if I'd like to see Morton coming out to it tbh.

Goal music is pish. Stick on Supersonic for the teams coming out.

Supersonic not a bad shout btw! Morning Glory intro is decent aswell.

Absolutely hate goal music. Hope that gets put in the bin.
