Pre-Season

Recommended Posts

The clear message that the new regime at Cappielow wants to put out is that they have ambition, are responsive to the fanbase and want to get everyone pushing in the same direction next season. It's very early days in terms of action, but the signs so far have been broadly encouraging. Another forward step would be the club embracing the opportunity of the pre-season schedule to capture the interest of the fanbase. Absolutely no more Rotherhams and fucking Walsalls at home; a Saint Johnstone-type shiter of a game at Cappielow being the exception and not the rule. Turriff away was a good start to this policy last year,

but we can clearly do better than this. Some suggestions:

- The Oban Tournament, Why let Hamilton Accies to take a charabanc of fans up there every season in the first weekend of July, when The Famous' travelling hordes would single-handedly drag the local economy into the 19th Century instead? Get the organisers telt.

- The Arran Tournament - Bring It Back and Bring a Better Boat. Charter the Clyde Clipper from Victoria Harbour having to set foot on the pointless, bumpkin county of Ayrshire.

- A trio of games against Orkney FC (North Caledonian champions), Wick and Golpie Sutherland away.

Alternatively, if you're just going to swan off to Austria to play a few games - as the club did a few seasons ago - then don't wait until about 13 hours before departure to make the announcement on your website.

Get it sorted.

The site is supposed to be a place for the extended 'family' of Morton supporters - having an affinity with people that you don't know, because you share a love of your local football club. It's not supposed to be about point scoring and showing how 'clever' or 'funny' you are, or just being downright rude and offensive to people you don't know, because you can get away with it. Unfortunately, it seems the classic case of people who have little standing/presence in real life, use this forum as a way of making themselves feel as if they are something. It's sad, and I've said that before..

So, having been on Morton forums for about 15 years I guess, I've had enough... well done t*ssers, another Morton supporter driven away. You can all feel happy at how 'clever' you are

Possibly sort of waiting on a manager & having a viable signed squad, think this might be for next year with the amount of work to be done.

It's the 11th of May - the team won't even start training for another five weeks. There's plenty of time.

  • 3 weeks later...

At least we waited until the League Cup draw was made before making plans. Stranraer had to cancel most of their preseason as one game clashed with a cup date and another was against QoS, whom they drew in their group.

McGhee needs some support, there's no-one backing him up.
Hayes playing it forward, Bell being forced to do it all alone, now forward from Marr, here's Ritchie, still Andy Ritchie, look at the control...

That is a marvellous goal from Andy Ritchie. Twenty minutes on the clock and Morton's supporters come alive. A goal which epitomises the control, the arrogance, the cheek of Andy Ritchie.

Make It Cardiff then we can talk

I'd settle for nothing less than a tournament held on Anglesey.

Nobody cares tbh. Why don't you, Brian Wake and Lee Kilday go as a threesome and have a whole weekend of soggy biscuit games?

Quite clearly you do care otherwise we wouldn't be reading that mess of a post tbh.

He does that very often, although usually without Brian Wake and Lee Kilday. Or even a biscuit.
