KIng Eck will storm it as usual; standard trolling by the the no-hopers during the boring part of the count.

The site is supposed to be a place for the extended 'family' of Morton supporters - having an affinity with people that you don't know, because you share a love of your local football club. It's not supposed to be about point scoring and showing how 'clever' or 'funny' you are, or just being downright rude and offensive to people you don't know, because you can get away with it. Unfortunately, it seems the classic case of people who have little standing/presence in real life, use this forum as a way of making themselves feel as if they are something. It's sad, and I've said that before..

So, having been on Morton forums for about 15 years I guess, I've had enough... well done t*ssers, another Morton supporter driven away. You can all feel happy at how 'clever' you are

Bad night for the SNP, sure, but I predict that "that's the pesky Nats STONE DEAD FOREVER this time!!!!!11" hubris will backfire sooner rather than later.

We're playing the long game here.

Why? There's no shortage of self inflating balloons in Westminster already.

Salmond is a brilliant politician and more importantly he trolls fuck out of the British establishment.

The SNP range in the Scottish part of the exit poll is between 21 and 50 i.e. not worth the paper it is written on. Anything less than 40 is poor, but I'm sticking with a solid 44.

Put this on the big forum so will copy and paste now:

The SNP campaign was difficult because of i) incumbency in both Westminster constituencies and ii) Holyrood government (for ten years now FFS); they've also probably been squeezed by there being an undoubtedly clearer difference in policies between Labour and Conservative. They didn't really make a coherent case for having SNP candidates at Westminster even to Yes voters and in the last few days the tactical voting messages were rather piss-poor and off-putting.

That said they will still be crushing victors overall and there will be no coherent message on Indyref2 coming up from London.

I haven't been paying close attention, saw low 30s on the BBC site and that was remarkably low. Would be very happy with anything over 40.

Rutherglen goes to Labour by 265 votes; the SNP are being outflanked on the left by Corbyn (Dugdale contributed nothing).

'Tories getting emptied' is going to be my choice of viewing for the next few hours.

Tories are looking roundly fucked and the good guys holding up better than it looked half am hour ago.

Regardless of the working government we're heading towardsMay getting her jotters a soft Brexit and staying in the single market here. Even the Bunfields are seeking that outcome.

Tonight's actually made me hate Labour even more than previously, if that's possible. Imagine where they could be tonight if the PLP hadn't wasted so much energy fighting their own leader, one whom the Labour membership overwhelmingly supported. Oh, he's unelectable, is he? Mitt Romney was the electable one (lost), Jeb Bush was the electable one (still alive? maybe?). Electability is what you make of it and although I doubt many of them saw this election coming, much less the result, I hope the ones who focused on infighting rather than battling the Tories feel suitably ashamed. Absolute arseholes who squandered a real opportunity.

Just saw this and I agree with your analysis. Especially the part about there now being an actual difference between Labour and the Tories. Miliband would have done all the same stuff, just 10% slower and with a soupcon of diversity on top. It's amazing what happens when you give people an actual choice. No, you might not win, but you'll do a lot better than if you say "we're like the Tories only less effective." People like to vote for the real thing.

You have to hand it to the Scottish Tories though. They had a message and they stuck to it. Only they could stop the SNP. Again, people like to vote for the real thing. Offer real Unionism, offer real Nationalism, offer real Socialism, offer real Capitalism, offer real Populism - whatever it is, you'll find an audience. We are much too divided now as so cities for a triangulation strategy to work.

The SNP campaign has been non-existent. Could attribute it to complacency/not planning for Corbyn's surge, either way they've made an arse of it. That being said, we might be doing this again in a few months.
