TRVMP
There is a chilling effect to "all this" ("all this" being the media climate, as opposed to the medical climate) around transsexualism. By way of example, last week a feminist speaker was assaulted at Speaker's Corner by a trans woman, operating under the aegis that any opposition to radical transsexual politics is in itself violence, and can be met with physical violence (or, as we called it until around a year ago, actual violence.) Increasingly those skeptical of the advancement of all demands of radical transsexuals are being no-platformed and, as in this case, assaulted - but because this is the media cause celebre these excesses don't get fair coverage and get only the must lukewarm, equivocal condemnation from the likes of Stonewall. What coverage does exist is hugely unfair because what was clearly, from numerous pieces of video evidence, a one-sided and mismatched attack is instead characterized as a "fight" or a "clash". You wouldn't call a mugging a fight or a clash, so why this? There's a lot more to this that I don't have time to post at the moment but I think the reduction of "harm" in our society is a worrying trend far beyond this issue, but this issue does a really good job of illustrating it. I know that's vague af but I'll elaborate on it at some point.

AJCTON
What makes you say it’s getting out of hand? It’s pretty harmless to most people, and empowering to the individuals concerned. Win-win (or maybe draw-win). Reading the examples in the links above I’m not sure they have much do with transgender issues anyway. couldnt give a toss what sexual orientation are to be honest, it gets shoved down yer throat at every opportunity, thgis one is non binary that one is non binary, this film star is this sexual orientation, this worker is that orientation. each to their own in my opinion, couldn't care less. live and let live. I would guess that most of us feel the same way but this issue is about much more than just acceptance. Take Bruce/Caitlin jenner for instance; he/she has hormone induced breasts and still has a penis and testicles. He/she has recently had their birth certificate legally altered to show he/she was born FEMALE. To me, that's feckin crazy shit!

His issues stem from steroid etc abuse not genetics.

It's not just one example though, the law (in certain States) allows someone with a penis to change the gender on their birth certificate to female! WTF?! Ton or NoTON
It's not just one example though, the law (in certain States) allows someone with a penis to change the gender on their birth certificate to female! WTF?! More reading on the matter required one suspects. Gender is now classed as something not exclusively about anatomy! Some people, me for example, prefer the pronoun, they. Several folk are born with a p and a v, what gender do they get to be? It should be their choice.
HamCam
Absolutely nothing to do with this thread but cannot be bothered starting a new one! Now Harvey is rightly getting a hard time for his inappropriate behaviour and this has encouraged lots of other stories to come forward. Personally, I hope this will be a good thing and attitudes in society change but I confess I did laugh at the latest story in the media as to why another thespian overlord got booted from his own company - “Back in the day, I’d have been up you like a rat up a drainpipe but now I’m a reformed character. My disability means I’m practically a virgin again.†
