Watching From The Away End

I'm going to the Morton v Falkirk friendly with Falkirk supporting friend from work, and as he's putting me up that night as well he insists that we sit in the home end. Thinking it might be quite interesting to watch morton from that perspective, to see what the home fans make of the morton team (if they comment on it at all).

just not sure how i'll react if we score.

anyone else watched the ton from the 'wrong' end??

Anytime we play Thistle in Glasgow I am in the home end as I stay in Glasgow and most of my pals are Jags fans.

It is strange trying to keep quiet when we score although the recent games at Firhill have all been pretty poor and there was not much to get excited about.

They have to come to the shed at Scappa though

Been in the home stand at Palmerston when we lost 3-0, the year we nearly got to the Premier I think. It was just before Rajamaki and Lindbergh arrived and we were diabolical. Absolutely no hassle.

Wouldn't like to try it at an OF ground though, being in the away end is bad enough and leaving these grounds is seriously scary at times, even if you've lost.

It looks like i'll be in the Home end for the Falkirk friendly aswell, as my dad knows a director who is giving us 2 freebies. Never been in the home end before in an away match but cant imagine me getting any hassle. Dunno whether or not to wear my morton top.

Come on the Ton!!!!!

If Football never existed. I would invent it.

I have often wanted to watch a Ton game from the opposition fans end, especially if the game has been all ticket or something, mainly just to see the Ton support.

However, a goal would almost certainly give me away, and I could not stifle my joy even if I was sitting in with **** or something.

I have watched from the home end of other grounds, but these were for games not involving Morton.

McGhee needs some support, there's no-one backing him up.
Hayes playing it forward, Bell being forced to do it all alone, now forward from Marr, here's Ritchie, still Andy Ritchie, look at the control...

That is a marvellous goal from Andy Ritchie. Twenty minutes on the clock and Morton's supporters come alive. A goal which epitomises the control, the arrogance, the cheek of Andy Ritchie.

i remember being in the away end at partick some years ago.

it was the first time i'd been there and for some reason i ended up in their end with my ton top on, scariest 90 minutes of my life.

& to top it, 'super ro' scored the only goal in the last minute, i have never run so fast in my life, frightning stuff ! but funny to look back on now.

The future just ain't what it used to be

I've watched Morton from the away end at Firhill years ago, but we were playing Clyde and had no problems. I also watch Morton from the away end at New Broomfield when we were in the 1st Division. I went with my cousin who is an Airdrie fan, I clapped very sportingly when we scored and gave my cousin pelters on the way home because we won.

EdinTon, wouldnt worry about their fans if we score and you react, i done the same couple of years ago in the falkirk end amongst 10 of us and me being the only Ton supporter, all soldiers though and the banter was on the ball. :)

Scariest moments supporting the Ton were at Castle Greyskull 80/81 season.

They were building the govan stand and for some reason we were in the enclosure

at the main stand near the tunnel.

There were less than 10k in the ground as they weren't doing very well that season

and we won 1-0 thanks to a Jim Tolmie goal.

there were no probs until about 10 mins to go when they realised we were going to win. Bit of verbals but they had been so bad they couldn't even be bothered with us although it could have been nasty.

Any win against the OF away is a happy day but to watch it with them was priceless

Basra the game was a Sat but it should never have been played as the pitch

was frozen (no SPL undersoil heating then)

The Ton played with astroturf type training shoes as the pitch wouldn't take a stud.

I'm sure te goal was scored from outside the box but it was a while ago

The goal was close range, but only after Tolmie had ran onto a through ball and rounded McCloy to roll it home (Copland Road end).

I know as I have it on tape. :P

It used to be the norm at some grounds to be in amongst other teams fans before there was proper segregation. I remember many times our fans getting hassle at Parkhead, the usual pish about wearing blue, knuckledragging dicks

I'd love to have you both for dinner

me and my dad went to the morton v dundee utd game at the end of the season we nearly got to the premier. we weren't planning on going to the wee dublin end but the queues for the home gates were so long that we decided there was no way we would get in, so we went to the away end and there were no queues whatsoever, we just walked straight in.

i was only wee and when we equalised i stood up and cheered, then immediately sat back down again and tried to blend in ... nobody was too bothered, though. i think i had to cheer when dundee utd scored, though :(

Watched a Morton-Saints game from the Cowshed in the 93/94 season. Not a great home crowd as you were struggling in the league that year and we'd just put you out the Challenge Cup a few days earlier.

I like to watch the occasional match from the Caledonia Stand at Love. St. providing the away support is not too big. Always intersting to see/hear how other fans view the match and earwig their opinions on your players.

Apart from one game where Airdrie (pre-Utd.) were the visitors I've always enjoyed the experience.

Just Visiting.

One of my 1st Ton games was against Cowdenbeath at Cappielow in the early 90s with my dad. I was moaning to him that I wanted to sit down so my dad asked a steward to let us in the WDE (with about 20 Cowden fans), which he eventually did. Can't really remember anything about the game (I was only wee) but I do remember being bored out my nut... :D

I spit in the face of people who don't want to be cool!
