xj2006
I was having a conversation the other night with a Dundee United fan who was there in the Camp Nou when Dundee United knocked Barcelona out of Europe, and it got me thinking about how things have changed so much in such a relatively short space of time. I vaguely remember watching that game on TV as a child, but when you realise it was almost 30 years ago it is quite disconcerting, especially when many people younger than me think I am on the wind up when I tell them about it. Other great moments in history... Aberdeen of course beating Real Madrid in the final in 1983... incredible moment that I wish I was old enough to comprehend! And I guess to a much lesser extent, Raith Rovers taking the lead, but eventually losing, away to BAYERN MUNICH in 1995!! Raith Fkn Rovers!!!! A team no bigger or better than us, had that glorious moment in their recent history, seeing their name on the scoreboard next to Bayern Munich, in their stadium, and seeing them winning 0-1! For that I am severely jealous. Can you think of any other moments like those above?

I believe it was them who lost to FH of Iceland too. Can't forget Artmedia or Marlboro while we're at it. XJ, a few years ago Aberdeen drew with Bayern. Less than a decade ago our European club ranking was 10th. We've had two teams in major final this century and Aberdeen in group stages. Yes, at this exact second we're at a low ebb but it won't be forever.
Toby
One of Scottish football's glorious failures that I remembered from the nineties was Motherwell's 0-1 defeat in the Westfallen against Borussia Dortmund, a game that prompted Dortmund's move for Paul Lambert. They got a bit of a doing at Fir Park IIRC but the first leg performance was excellent.

I think that was the same year Aberdeen scudded Copenhagen 4-0 too, if memory serves. They were outstanding that night. Another one worth mentionign is Hearts' win in Bordeaux, largely due to a career-launching performance from Craig Gordon. AWMSC
bazooka
Dundee Utd getting to European semi final in 1984 was superb too. Won home leg 2 nil then lost second leg 3-0. Would have been an all British final with Liverpool too.

capitanus
A couple of Rangers games always stand out in my mind: One where around 1996 they were getting absolutely pumped by Juventus in the Stadio Delle Alpi, it was being televised and the camera showed the Rangers support having a party, singing "f- the pope" for about 20 mins solid. The era where Rangers supporters looked forward in great anticipation of the UEFA champions league and inevitable greatness, only to have thier arses handed to them by some nomark outfits were my happiest times watching Scottish clubs in Europe. I miss watching Rangers in Europe, Jackass doesn't cut it for me anymore. *insert signature here*

Rangers fans were an embarrassment to themselves as usual. Happy days.

I fancy they'd have beaten Steaua in the final. Instead they drew 0-0 with the group's whipping boys, lol.

The group stages were introduced the previous season but competition was rebranded 1992-1993. They actually did well that campaign although they did get a huge slice of luck with Scott Nisbet's goal vs Brugge at home.
