Queens vs Morton

How can JJ already be on a 'last throw of the dice' lineup. Absolute lunacy, can't believe Lyon plays and it really is alarming how few options we have at cb. Literally all of them are playing tonight.

What do I know lol. Lot of us proven wrong tonight. Well done to the lads and especially Reece Lyon.

Hopefully the boys go in to two very winnable games with the same attitude as tonight. If we do well in our next two games then everything will be starting to look more stable. This is Morton though.

Recent results aside, its really ****ing cringe-worthy seeing folk talk this result up as if it was entirely impossible or that Qots are world beaters.

I dunno. There's been a lot of negativity and even Millar suggesting players haven't had the right attitude so to go away and get a good win after all that is a great result in my book.

I was the most optimistic guy on here pre match. My apologies to Mr Lyons for doubting his inclusion. Well fucking done that man and JJ and the fuckin TON.

Peter Weatherson is the greatest player since Ritchie, and should be assigned 'chairman for life'

Side note: fuck Falkirk and those useless sheepshagging teuchers. I had an Ayr, Draw, Ross County and Morton line on for over £200.

After a spate of dreadful results it was perfectly reasonable to be pessimistic. Now that we've picked up a good three points, that changes.

Bit of a shock result, but a very welcome one! Glad to see Gaston back in goal... just feel he is more of a calming influence that Scully. Something the defence definitely needs..

JJ needs a big performance and result after the 2nd pumping in 6 games.

He decides to throw a child in. Last time he did that, it contributed towards a game that was delicately poised turning into the first of those pumpings.

Brave or very very stupid lineup tonight, particularly when questions are already being asked about his ability.

If tonight goes badly, with a lineup like that, some people's minds will be firmly made up about JJ.

My brother goes to the home reserve games and he's been raving about Lyon for weeks, which is why I held off on criticism tonight. Apparently he is an absolute cut above most others on the pitch, not just Morton players, and extremely calm on the ball.  This was the "scouting report" he sent me a fortnight ago during the reserve game against (wait for it) QoS:

But Lyon is extremely good going forward and plays a Scott brown style where he drops back to bridge the gap between forwards and defence to eliminate the need for long balls
He makes these phenomenal bursting runs into their box from 40 yards out and he’s so strong that he just holds off any challenges
He’s 6 feet tall and if he starts putting on muscle he will be an immense midfielder at this level if he reaches the potential that I can see in these games
I mean he’s 18 and there is a reason he is being used as a sub in our first team games
If we can send him on loan to league 1/2 then I’m certain he’ll become something special

Heard similar reviews about him at the start of last season. 'He'll be better than Tidser' is the comment I remember.

What we need to do is put massive amounts of pressure on him right away. I want "Mini-Möller" headline in the Daily Record by the weekend, and for him to be thrown in at the deep end and held responsible for our fortunes this season.

That formation looks far better suited to us. First half they had plenty of the ball, but we looked comfortable in our shape and were never really under a lot of pressure. Our goal came after a period where we started to look the more likely.

Second half we got battered for long spells; but still looked fairly solid.

Lyon didn’t look out of place, he got about and won the ball a fair bit. Their best spell was when he started to fade, towards the middle of the second half.

What a difference two up front makes to us, also.

Superb strike for the winner.

I thought it looked as if Gaston should have got to Dobbie's shot but overall I have more confidence in Gaston than in Scully.

We need a proper striker up front.  Oliver tries hard but he gets outmuscled easily.  Denny alongside McHugh seemed to look promising earlier in the season, giving some point to McHugh being on the pitch as he's not a lone striker type - but very good at what he did last night and against Falkirk and RC at home.

Ref was poor - a decent ref wouldn't have booked Lyon for that celebration of his first ever senior goal, although he might have booked about half the Ton support.

Yeah was trying not to be too critical (except the child line, but that was getting used when he last got on).

Was more commenting on the bravery of the decision when JJ must have known there was a bit of pressure for a result.

Fair play to him. Probably the first actual decision making positive from his time in charge.

More please.
