That really was an excellent result despite how the performance dropped off, and we can now have genuine belief that our home form will continue to be excellent rather than just benefitting from a kind fixture list at the start of the season. If we can beat Caley Thistle we should really have confidence in beating anyone in the division, although we’re not always going to be able to rely on gifts like the defending for the second. While we’re not going to win every home game and a defeat will come eventually, we’re surely going to start picking up away points as well.

 

I do wonder how much the selection was influenced by having three games so close together and needing to use the squad, but if we’re going to continue seeing some rotation over the Ayr and Dundee games we can hopefully have a better idea of what the best team is and get a settled starting eleven on the other side of them, with the likes of Salkeld who hadn’t had a real chance yet getting an opportunity to show what they can do.
