In his post match interview last night, Imrie appeared to acknowledge he has to consider a squad overhaul for next season. The problem he will have is if we do not finish higher than the budgeted finish of eighth there will be less in the transfer fund to build a bigger squad never mind improving the quality.

Like many others Quitongo was awful tonight. He was never an effective outball albeit he should have won us a penalty in the second half but if the ref was in doubt the earlier dive was possibly a consideration. Injury prone and ineffective sums up his latest spell at Morton.

At least Muirhead knows how to score albeit the rest of his contribution tonight has been less than effective.

Broadfoot could have conceded a penalty, Quitongo possibly would have got a penalty if he decided not to take dive in the first half and then Baird demonstrates his inability to pass a ball. After all that we score - the comeback is on.

The positives from the first half are - it is only 2-0 and we still have 11 players on the park. As good as Dundee Utd have been we have been a disorganised shambles. Our game plan seems to be to pass the ball backwards to Mullen to either launch it out the park or to give heading practice to their centre backs. It looks like the best we can hope for is a more spirited second half involving us avoiding a doing and it continuing to chuck it down on the away support.

Power is a player in decline in both thought and movement. While he has contributed in some games, age has caught up with him and the negatives outweigh the positives. Blues I would only keep as a squad player. The positive side of his game is almost negligible but you cannot fault his defensive efforts especially as he has played much of the season out wide rather than through the middle. Quitongo is a conundrum in he is one of the few players in the squad, when fit, who offers an X-factor but the problem is he is injury prone and with a small budget can we afford to keep taking the risk? Muirhead does my head in. He is one of the most talented players in the Championship and his goals have been vital this season but when he is off the boil it is playing with a man down. As for his petted lip he has to realise he is at our level for a reason.

On the face of it a point away to Ayr is a reasonable outcome, however, not getting a win contributes to the feeling, once again, we have shat the bed at the business end of the season. Too many passengers in the squad and a lack of quality to adapt when things are not going our way.

Another end of season shambolic performance. The shortcomings in the squad are there for all to see so no surprise we come up short. As soon as we concede the first goal in a game the belief in the team evaporates and you just know we are unlikely to come back. In this regard the experienced players let us down once again. Even if the play offs are realistically beyond us every position higher up the table means more money in the transfer kitty albeit you have to hope it is not wasted on offering contracts to players who keep on under performing. Talk about sucking the life out of the fans.

I don't think most people are doubting Muirhead is one of the most talented players at this level and/or his goals have been key to our points tally this season but it is not unreasonable to comment that he has been dreadful for the best part of two months.

Does the club still produce an online programme or did they bin the experiment?

Still a bit disjointed but a much better performance. As others have commented Bearne was a clear MotM offering a threat from out wide, something we have lacked in recent weeks. The boy tired in the second half but at last we have someone who stepped up and took his opportunity. As for the differing opinion on Quitongo, I agree he looks to have lost a yard of pace (for now anyway) but otherwise his decision-making in the final third was much improved. Hopefully with more game-time he will be back to his best to contribute to getting us into the promotion play-offs. Overall a good win and a much needed three points.

A step in the right direction but still tone deaf to many fans in Inverclyde who are experiencing a cost of living crisis. I remain to be convinced this is the right message to be sending out for a fan owned club. Just seen the event is now no longer black tie. I can only assume the pushback to the original proposal has required a response.

If I remember rightly Imrie has previously commented he did try to get a couple of players in on loan but others were able and willing to offer/contribute more than Morton.

The pricing is out-with the reach of most 'ordinary' fans especially for those that require to hire for a black tie event. Fair enough if you are targeting a 'commercial' market but an end of year awards event should be for all.

For all the acclaim the team received for the unbeaten run they have to accept the subsequent drop off in form has been unacceptable. What is most disappointing is the lack of leadership from the senior pros and the inability of players given more game time to take the opportunity. McGrattan is rightly singled out. I had high hopes the boy would kick on this season but watching him in recent weeks he is going through the motions. He was clearly not alone today and I hope this is taken into account when we look at which members of the squad we look to retain next season. This team has a soft centre and seem unable to overcome adversity such as conceding the first goal. Once again we are in danger of a season which offered so much promise petering out. The dream of third place now looks like a delusion.
