The same as if he was let go for any other reason.

The rule is aids. Surely someone has to successfully challenge this rule in court for restricting their ability to work after losing their job?

I’m amazed it hasn’t been successfully challenged before now. So unless he finds someone mental enough (Morton) to pay his wage while being unable to play him then he’s left high and dry until the summer! Absolutely ludicrous rule!

Some Partick fans said McGinty was fine towards the end of last season with Anderson beside him talking him through games. O'ware beside him this season and it naturally all fell to shit again.

Not sure Baird can do that for us with McGinty but Gunning sure did with O'Ware so disappointing red tape is scuppering us.

I tend to dismiss what other fans say, generally. We’ve had players in the past who are utterly tragic - Graeme Holmes, Brian Graham [even] etc who we’ve passed on with little regard that have done good work for other teams in the division. I’ll make my own judgement on the signings.

Agreed. Remember Dunfermline fans didn’t rate Forbes..

Even if a challenge was successful, by the time a player or club chucks a fortune at it to get a decision they'd be eligible to play anyway. When Morton signed Tidser for the second time a French club (Nantes rings a bell?) had also fallen foul of the rule and were considering a challenge on EU law grounds but it never came.

The site is supposed to be a place for the extended 'family' of Morton supporters - having an affinity with people that you don't know, because you share a love of your local football club. It's not supposed to be about point scoring and showing how 'clever' or 'funny' you are, or just being downright rude and offensive to people you don't know, because you can get away with it. Unfortunately, it seems the classic case of people who have little standing/presence in real life, use this forum as a way of making themselves feel as if they are something. It's sad, and I've said that before..

So, having been on Morton forums for about 15 years I guess, I've had enough... well done t*ssers, another Morton supporter driven away. You can all feel happy at how 'clever' you are

That's Broadfoot apparently happening, back to Killie.

I really, really hope we don't lose Baird.

Zero idea if this is one of these things that only applies on Football Manager, but is not the case they can’t cancel it for at least a month?

That’s right, if a loanee registers with another club they can’t be re-registered with their parent club until a month has passed and as they can’t be recalled outwith windows (other than goalkeepers) in practice it means a January loan signing can’t be recalled until the season ends, but I assume even though the initial loan period was only to January Baird’s registration was never transferred back to St Mirren, so they probably could take him back if they wanted to.

Oh aye. I think that's a real thing actually.

What would happen if we just didn't bother answering the phone?

No idea if the club taking a player on loan actually have to do anything to transfer the registration or if the parent club can just go straight to the SFA themselves, but this is where saying ‘can’t be recalled’ isn’t strictly accurate. A club in that position could still technically recall him at any time they like and stop him playing for us, but wouldn’t be able to register him to play for themselves and would be sending their player to sit in the reserves. This debate came up when Raith let Lewis Vaughan go on loan to Dumbarton and he was busy winning Dumbarton enough points to relegate Raith on goal difference.

I hope we’re in a position to pull such a shithouse move for a laugh one day. Send someone to Queen’s Park then recall him before a crucial relegation decider just to wind them up.
