I don’t think they were falling apart. They were functioning fine, as the ones in the away end continue to.

There was no need for Morton to invest that cost into Turnstiles when losing such great sums of money.

When will we see a return on this investment? All about sustainability!

I was under the impression that some were essentially broken, and others weren't working very well. I was also under the impression that the turnstiles in the away end weren't working very well (I certainly remember the last time I used one that it took a bit of effort to get it to move).

I don't know exactly how accurate my impression is, but it's certainly my understanding (and experience) of it.

Even if the turnstiles had been capable of scanning e-tickets and print at home tickets, as well as being able to process on-the-spot Apple/Google Pay admissions, we as a club still shouldn't be spending anywhere near the sum that we did on them. A couple of folk to remove the old set of turnstiles, build a wee ticket hut (or alternatively use something resembling the wee van Smiths sell merchandise from) and install new turnstiles. I've no idea how much that would cost, but I'm fairly sure it would be comfortably less than a hundred grand.

You address me by my proper title, you little bollocks!

Aye, there had to be a cheaper solution. Again, we've paid so much and haven't even got a particularly great system from it. It's not a modern set-up, it's a few years out of date.

And of course if something ‘isn’t working very well’ at the venerable ground of a second tier Scottish football club then the only logical response is to spunk £100k on a terrible replacement with no return whatsoever.

The site is supposed to be a place for the extended 'family' of Morton supporters - having an affinity with people that you don't know, because you share a love of your local football club. It's not supposed to be about point scoring and showing how 'clever' or 'funny' you are, or just being downright rude and offensive to people you don't know, because you can get away with it. Unfortunately, it seems the classic case of people who have little standing/presence in real life, use this forum as a way of making themselves feel as if they are something. It's sad, and I've said that before..

So, having been on Morton forums for about 15 years I guess, I've had enough... well done t*ssers, another Morton supporter driven away. You can all feel happy at how 'clever' you are

I don't know what the range of alternatives and related costs would have been. I'm not particularly knowledgeable about old turnstiles and the options for repairing or replacing them. I'm sure there would have been a range of options, but I'm in no position to assess any of those options.

My point was only that I had the impression that the turnstiles were not fine and needed replaced sooner or later.

So when are they planning to spunk £100k on replacing the away turnstiles then? The same principle of ‘old and not working very well’ applies - but as Iron Man is only obsessed with the home fans and turnstile operators apparently cheating the club of ‘its’ money that’ll never happen.

It really doesn’t take specialist knowledge to grasp that a form of entry system that the likes of Forfar can easily maintain and renew when required is a cheaper and more sensible option than installing some shan electronic effort at £100k for barely a handful of them. The lengths that some people will go to trying to mitigate for that fucking obvious failure on the club’s part is breathtaking, but not surprising.

Aren't the away turnstiles a more recent building than the old ones?

Edit to add - I don't know if they are or aren't but the old home ones were falling apart.

No idea what state they are in but the planning permission for the new turnstiles included the away end to be done at a later date.

All they needed was a bit of wd40.

I’ve no idea what that craven mess of a post was supposed to achieve; at least decide on your excuse before parroting the party line.

Don’t think so, they are just as bad as the home ones were.

How sad that you spend most of your life bookmarking posts and scoring points

I’m sure we could all do the same with your posts but we have lives to get on with

There was no doubt that we were on the brink but all credit to the players for turning it around

Well done champ

I didn't 'bookmark' anything champ; I just put your shite handle into the search box and your terrible opinions popped up for me.

Better luck next time.
