AyrshireTon
Ayrshireton, I haven't checked but was the 1-0 win v Clyde in 2008? I thought it was 2009. Won league in 07, stayed up by skin of teeth 08 under Irons. Finished 6th or 7th in 09. Just had a look. 2007-08 was the season we stayed up on the final day at Firhill. 2008-09 we started badly (and won at Hibs) and ended up 6th on goal difference (all the team from 5th - 8th had 47 points). Grady was signed in time for the Clyde game. By 2009-10 Grady was the manager (and present at the 79 night). We stayed up on the final day, beating and relegating Ayr, putting Airdrie in the play-offs. McGhee needs some support, there's no-one backing him up. Hayes playing it forward, Bell being forced to do it all alone, now forward from Marr, here's Ritchie, still Andy Ritchie, look at the control... That is a marvellous goal from Andy Ritchie. Twenty minutes on the clock and Morton's supporters come alive. A goal which epitomises the control, the arrogance, the cheek of Andy Ritchie. AyrshireTon
October 19th - 2013 - Cowdenbeath 5-1 Morton (Imrie) Utter f**king mince. http://youtu.be/XYZ7730vWoE 2002 - Stirling Albion 2-0 Morton 1996 - Clydebank 2-1 Morton (Lilley) 1993 - Morton 2-4 St. Mirren (Alexander, Tolmie) Probably the first time I'd seen a scarf thrown onto the park, just after we went 3-0 down with around half an hour to play. Disgraceful stuff - 4-2 flattered us. A fuse blew in the Cowshed lights during the first half, but the game went on regardless. 1991 - Morton 1-0 Hamilton (McArthur) 1985 - Morton 0-3 F*lk*rk 1977 - Morton 0-1 Queen of the South 1974 - Dundee 3-0 Morton 1968 - St. Mirren 2-1 Morton (Harper) 1963 - Morton 7-1 Berwick Rangers (McGraw 4, 1 pen, Campbell 2, Wilson) 1957 - Morton 3-1 Montrose (Nelson, Chatham, Fleming) McGhee needs some support, there's no-one backing him up. AyrshireTon
October 20th - 1984 - Morton 2-3 Heart of Midlothian (Gillespie, og) Jim Gillespie scores his first goal for Morton. http://youtu.be/d7Iysb8p6_Q 1979 - Morton 1-0 Celtic (Thomson) A game that few who were at it will forget. A very cleverly worked free-kick was enough to see off the league leaders and put us one point behind them. Celtic's first defeat of the season too. Bobby Thomson is caught doing a "GIRFUY" to Murdo MacLeod after he skies the penalty, with Roy Baines telling him to ease off. There are full highlights on youtube too. http://youtu.be/Np17fe0iD6o 1973 - East Fife 0-1 Morton (McIlmoyle) 1962 - Cowdenbeath 2-0 Morton 1956 - East Stirlingshire 1-1 Morton Scottish Cup. 1951 - Raith Rovers 4-1 Morton (Linwood) McGhee needs some support, there's no-one backing him up. AyrshireTon
October 21st - 2000 - Morton 0-4 Falkirk A heavy defeat with two sent off. Half of the clip concerns Andy Brownrigg demanding to see Mike Peden about not getting his wages. http://youtu.be/pfDJJofco_A 1995 - Morton 4-0 St. Johnstone (Anderson, Hawke 3) Hawke got his first hat-trick for Morton, the second a brilliant acute-angled looping header. McGraw said we eased off - we did nothing of the sort. The team fannied about for half an hour trying to get Derek McInnes a goal since it would likely be his last game at Scapa, before Hawke finished his hat trick late on. 1989 - Falkirk 1-0 Morton 1978 - Celtic 0-0 Morton Bobby Thomson played 45 minutes without knowing his nose was broken. 1972 - St. Johnstone 3-1 Morton (Watson) 1970 - Morton 0-3 Wolverhampton Wanderers Texaco Cup 1st leg. 1967 - Stirling Albion 0-6 Morton (Jensen 3, Sweeney, Mason, Allan) 1961 - East Fife 2-2 Morton (Franks, og) 1950 - Raith Rovers 1-1 Morton (Cupples) 1944 - Dumbarton 0-4 Morton Scottish Southern League.
