AyrshireTon
December 12th - 2015 - Rangers 2-2 Morton (og, McCluskey) Nearly. The scenes following McCluskey's goal were fantastic. Rangers commentary. AyrshireTon
I read all these memory games and we get a fair amount of humpings for a sleeping giant/big club... I remember during the season we finished bottom of the 2nd division (2002) thinking how far we'd fallen, losing 3-1 at home to Cowdenbeath and 4-1 at home to Forfar. Then I recall the 80-90 period when we lost 7-1 at home to both Dundee & Clydebank, 5-1 at home to F*lk*rk (twice) and 5-1 at Forfar, F*lk*rk and St. Mirren. Then, like you, I read the old scores and realise that stuff like that actually happens to us quite a lot (see Ayr and Ross County this season). McGhee needs some support, there's no-one backing him up. Hayes playing it forward, Bell being forced to do it all alone, now forward from Marr, here's Ritchie, still Andy Ritchie, look at the control... That is a marvellous goal from Andy Ritchie. Great game and a mental night. 1997 - Morton 0-2 Falkirk John Anderson had to go in goals for most of the first half. http://youtu.be/k3DcJIARLAQ McGhee needs some support, there's no-one backing him up. AyrshireTon
December 13th - 1992 - Morton 2-3 Hamilton (Alexander 2) League Challenge Cup final (B&Q Cup at the time). Played at Love Street. Mahood should never have started. Bewildering decision to play him from a manager who was himself suffering from the consequences of having to play when he was injured. Hamilton's second goal was missed by the Scotsport cameras. http://youtu.be/AJD76onRwGY 1986 - Kilmarnock 2-0 Morton 1980 - Kilmarnock 3-3 Morton (Thomson 2, Busby) 1975 - Morton 1-1 Dumbarton (Reid) 1969 - Morton 2-3 Heart of Midlothian (Sweeney, Osborne) 1958 - Morton 3-4 Arbroath (McAllister, Beaton, Samson) 1952 - Alloa Athletic 3-0 Morton McGhee needs some support, there's no-one backing him up. Malt
I would love to see a table of where we would be, based on all competitive league games. what position would we be out of all clubs as that could show our place Scottish football. I think we could be anywhere between 18 - 22. Overall, I believe our history shows we have spent more time in the second tier (Championship) than any other. JimJam
In the all time table across all leagues we sit at 7th. In the top tier table, 16th. https://www.worldfootball.net/alltime_table/sco-premiership/
Malt
That table does not look accurate with some teams only playing 100 games. No way we sit 7th also as an over all also.

AyrshireTon
December 16th - 1995 - Morton 1-2 Dundee United (Lilley) http://youtu.be/QNuLnwYubys 1987 - Morton 1-7 Dundee (Alexander) We went 1-0 up very early on, scoring our first goal since Halloween, and then shipped seven. Every time Dundee broke they looked like scoring (or rather, we looked like chucking one in). Lars Christiansen made his debut whilst Karsten Margaard came on as a sub - and got an ovation after getting booked before he'd even touched the ball. The second time we'd conceded seven that season. We get to see Clydebank win by the same scoreline at Scapa four years later. 1978 - Motherwell 1-1 Morton (Ritchie pen) 1972 - Morton 1-1 F*lk*rk (Gillies) 1967 - F*lk*rk 1-1 Morton (Stevenson) 1961 - Montrose 1-3 Morton (Cowie 2, McInnes) 1950 - Morton 1-2 Aberdeen Despite the ground being solid and there being lumps of ice all over the pitch, the game went ahead once sand had be chucked on them. 1944 - F*lk*rk 1-0 Morton Scottish Southern League.
