Hibs v Morton

Saw it mentioned on social media but you cannot fault this teams effort and fight. Night and day compared to the wet wipe performances that JJ had us displaying last season. Is that us only 11 goals off of the total number of goals scored under JJ in 7 games this season?

That wouldn’t surprise me at all

That statement from the assistant manager yesterday was embarrassing. Heat of the moment and all that, but really unprofessional.

Nothing the matter sticking up for your club as if it is right the officials were minging.

Salkeld looked a real handful when he came on. Would like to see more of him

Aye same.

Think he came up here probably expecting more game time but Nesbitt and Cadden obv on fire. Wouldnt mind seeing all 3 of them behind McHugh with 2 of Lyon/Millar/Jacobs sitting in a 4231 but doubt Hopkin will change formation and probably rightly so what with the goals we are scoring.

Jacobs in team of the day in Sunday Sun!?

He wasn't even the best player in the back 4. Strap was very good on Saturday. The rest not so much.

Peter Weatherson is the greatest player since Ritchie, and should be assigned 'chairman for life'

Our highlights are up. Slowed the footage right down for the foul on Salkeld in the run up to the 4th goal and there is no doubt about it - as clear a foul you’ll ever see. We should have dealt with the through ball better afterwards, but at the end of the day, the pass shouldn’t have even be allowed. It’s frustrating as we were very comfortable against that Hibs side and the game was turned on it’s head following that dreadful decision.

Except football's not played at half speed. I'm not really convinced it's a foul - if one of our players done that to break through on goal and it got pulled back, everybody would be moaning about it being given - but it's not why they scored even if it was an offense given how easily they cut through what passes as our midfield and defence. It's frustrating how Hopkin seems to keep wanting to make excuses (some of which are very tenuous) rather than acknowledging the fact that we're unbelievably soft-centered. If he's going to keep throwing tantrums for that kind of thing, it's going to get old fairly quickly, especially when it's accompanied by ridiculous statements about fourth officials.

Also, this might be very harsh...but for their second goal, would you not be looking for McAlister (I think) to at least make an attempt to cut it out once their player passes the 'keeper and slots the ball goalwards? It looks like it might have been reachable if he'd flung himself at it, although again, that could be quite harsh.

Most could tell at the time it was a foul, and for the avoidance of doubt, slowing it down proves that to be correct. Even at normal speed you can see the Hibs player came right through Salkeld and didn’t even touch the ball

If you watch it several times it probably is a foul, but at full speed it's not the crime of the century for the ref not to give it - McHugh's goal last week, for example, was a far more blatant foul and we accepted that, so there's no point pissing and moaning about something that happened 70 yards from goal.  It's far more of a problem that the midfield stood watching afterwards, and that McLean made an absolute mess of it to let their player through to finish it off.

I'd be all for us having a team of big bad bastards on the park and getting a reputation as the horrible cunts of the league that way, but a manager spitting the dummy every five minutes and blaming refs for our players failings (he was at it after the Motherwell and Ayr games) too and daft statements/quotes from the CEO and assistant manager is just getting in to Old Firm territory.

It's a blatant foul that changed a promising Morton attack - and a set piece when given - to an immediate counter attacking chance for Hibs, which they took. It couldn't have had much more of an impact on the game, as anyone who was actually there rather than just bleating on here about the price of it all would be aware of.

What do you mean by 'accepted' here? Pretty much everyone agreed that the McHugh was a foul and that the referee made an arse of it. Or do you think that Morton were somehow obliged to let Alloa score a goal in compensation in order to call out any future acts from incompetence from match officials?

The lengths of bizarre whataboutery that some people are engaging in is far more cringeworthy than any comments made by the club in the heat of the moment IMO.

The site is supposed to be a place for the extended 'family' of Morton supporters - having an affinity with people that you don't know, because you share a love of your local football club. It's not supposed to be about point scoring and showing how 'clever' or 'funny' you are, or just being downright rude and offensive to people you don't know, because you can get away with it. Unfortunately, it seems the classic case of people who have little standing/presence in real life, use this forum as a way of making themselves feel as if they are something. It's sad, and I've said that before..

So, having been on Morton forums for about 15 years I guess, I've had enough... well done t*ssers, another Morton supporter driven away. You can all feel happy at how 'clever' you are
