A sad day for sure - not only for the Rae family but for Morton. And a day to focus purely on the positive and leave all sorts of other postulations for another time.

What is undeniable is that this man had a huge passion for our club, invested heavily in it, and was core to its survival when we needed him most. He was, above all, a Morton supporter.

He has a family that has continued that passion so far, and he should be rightly remembered fondly today by all Morton supporters.

My over riding enjoyable Dougie moment was when he was being launched up in the air by the players at Starks Park when we had secured promotion out of the second division.

There was a super half hour of togetherness with the players, management, board and supporters that lives long in my memory. A spontaneous, "you had to be there" kind of moment.

My deep sympathies go to Crawford and the extended family - with deep thanks for everything your father did for my club over many many years.

Ar dheis De go raibh a anam agus codlamh samh Dougie.

Two Uniteds but the soul is one, as the Busby Babes carry on.

Dougie at his finest and probably best memories of his time at the club.

Peter Weatherson is the greatest player since Ritchie, and should be assigned 'chairman for life'

Think the game v Peterhead will always go down as the one I relate to dougaks Rae.

We went up to Stirling second last game of season, thumped them and went top of the league, this was following a few weeks of Hawke and Cannie coming off the bench to rescue points (East Fife away).

Then final day came and it was like a carnival. The support for the club was fantastic, the players were up for it and the fans were all in it together to get us over the gate.

League 2/3rd Division was out lowest point following administration but arguably gave us one of the greatest days as a fan with a then record crowd, the relief, the ecstasy and the feeling that we were back and had something to build on.

Premiership - Do it for Dougie!

Exactly my thoughts right now.

I think his announcement of a new signing on he pitch, whose name he said wrong (can't remember who it was) is up there with one of my favourite moments. I'll miss those pre-match pep talks on the pitch.

Thoughts go out to the extended Rae family.

It is a sad day and although we all had differing opinions of DDFR as Chairman, the one thing you couldn't argue about was his deep and genuine love of Morton. He stepped up at a time when the club was on it's knees and our survival was undoubtedly down to his support and backing.

Thanks for the memories Dougie and sincere condolences to Crawford and the family.
