I voted Gaston but can see the logic behind McCrorie, who by and large played well during what was, at the end of the day, a top-half Championship finish. There's also a case to be made for one or two of the others.

Comedy votes for Ramsbottom can get in the sea.

Gaston had the longevity but McCrorie was a much better goalkeeper than him, so McCrorie it is. If we were to base these things entirely on length of service we’d end up with O’Ware ahead of Gunning and Oliver ahead of Kiltie.

When Gaston was a first-teamer we re-established ourselves as a mid-table Championship club. I maintain that he was an important part of that.

Although come to think of it, he also went AWOL during the playoffs against DU and we had to use Jamie McGowan, so I'm changing my vote to McCrorie as well.

Gaston produced some unearthly saves at times. The close rage one in THAT Ayr game at 0-1 and the one at Palmerston being standouts.

McGhee needs some support, there's no-one backing him up.
Hayes playing it forward, Bell being forced to do it all alone, now forward from Marr, here's Ritchie, still Andy Ritchie, look at the control...

That is a marvellous goal from Andy Ritchie. Twenty minutes on the clock and Morton's supporters come alive. A goal which epitomises the control, the arrogance, the cheek of Andy Ritchie.

Gaston was every bit as vital as that wee cunt McManus in us winning League One at the first attempt, but point taken. I didn't see much of McCrorie.

Also made some ridiculous saves against Dunfermline up there if memory serves me right.

Gaston hands down for me.

For the length of time he was with us, he was bound to have some clangers. Successive managers were not convinced to the extent that others were preferred. Firstly Caraux (jesus wept) then Mc Neil and Adam and finally McCrorie.

Having said this he was a solid keeper who had a big impact on the season in league 1.Having said that, our semi final season, Mc Neil was the preferred keeper and he also went awol in the playoff..... McCrorie had a couple of dodgy moments too last season....

Gaston for me..... Just.

Gaston was sick and was listed on the bench in that game. That's why McGowan played. His wedding plans clashed with the final that year. https://www.greenocktelegraph.co.uk/sport/15246834.gaston-ready-for-play-offs-but-there-could-be-a-hitch-if-morton-reach-final/

Adam and McNeil both came into the team when Gaston was injured. They did well enough that he didn't come straight back into the team, but he always got back in. I think it's fair to say that Gaston certainly had some shaky times over a period of 18 months or so that was interrupted by injury, but he did remain Duffy's first choice goalkeeper over the long term.

I actually thought Gaston looked better than ever in terms of his overall game in his limited appearances last season.

It’s Gaston. Consistency was his issue, but some of the saves he was capable of making were unreal (QOTS away, Stranraer away etc)

No, he consistently performed as a bottom half of the Championship standard of goalkeeper. The issues that stopped him from playing at a higher level in the game were, in no particular order:

- non-existent command of the defence in front of him

- mediocre distribution

- dodgy claiming of crosses (in more recent years at least)

Making some great saves and having a generally good shot-stopping ability is only one part of a goalkeeper's job, which most fans seem to vastly overrate. I don't really begrudge Gaston getting the nod, but McCrorie was quite simply a better keeper on the above traits and not because of greater consistency.

The site is supposed to be a place for the extended 'family' of Morton supporters - having an affinity with people that you don't know, because you share a love of your local football club. It's not supposed to be about point scoring and showing how 'clever' or 'funny' you are, or just being downright rude and offensive to people you don't know, because you can get away with it. Unfortunately, it seems the classic case of people who have little standing/presence in real life, use this forum as a way of making themselves feel as if they are something. It's sad, and I've said that before..

So, having been on Morton forums for about 15 years I guess, I've had enough... well done t*ssers, another Morton supporter driven away. You can all feel happy at how 'clever' you are

Gaston's distribution was decent when he first arrived. Then we got a goalkeeping coach....

McGhee needs some support, there's no-one backing him up.
