Dundee United are absolutely awful. Ayr aren't great but they're capitalising on other team's pishness and whilst they're a bit of a shite club, fair play to them.

The sooner we get new owners the better, it's intolerable to have clubs like Ayr outstripping us. The Rae's have fucked it, big style.

Are Ayr going to the Premiership? Before Morton?

Just disband the club if that happens.

Livi's approach last year and Ayr's this year should make every club stuck at this level for years feel utterly embarrassed with themselves, particularly those that have continually bleated about how tough it is.

Dundee Utd's form had been pretty good, but they were lucky to get away with 5. It was like the last 20 against us at Cappielow but for 90 minutes.

We actually played Ayr really well a couple of weeks ago - have them no space to run into and frustrated then into making mistakes. Dundee Utd did the opposite tonight. Ayr look very dangerous on the break but I'm not sure about their creativity to break defensive teams down.

Can’t say it bothers me.

The Little Ayr patter is s***e.

Yeah, we should just sit back and admire as pishy little clubs like Ayr, Hamilton, Livingston, Ross County and Inverness continue to sail ahead of Morton.

Apparently both McDaid and Shankland were absolutely on fire tonight. Shankland, I don't think anyone reading this would have extended his contract. We can put that one down to hindsight being 20/20, him getting the finger out, or finally developing into the player he once showed the promise of being. But McDaid moving on to Thistle and then Ayr shows one of the pitfalls of a youth-first system. Talents can slip through your fingers so easily. Just look at David Bates. Raith will make only a pittance from him going forward - the 'solidarity' payments, but nothing else.

Then again, they can do the same when you sign them from other youth systems, too. Bachirou was a PSG youth whom we brought in - precisely the model I advocate. But we have relatively little to show for it, even though he's making good money at a major club.

Of course we tried to keep McDaid but he was determined to go to Thistle.

In some ways surprising since he had, if I recall correctly refused a move to Celtic a year earlier.

Didn't do much at Thistle and hasn't always started for Ayr, but on the form of last night would walk into any Championship side.

McDaid was never staying. I played for the unders with him and grew up playing against him too. He lost interest in Morton after John Laird told him he would be going to Sunderland. Besides, he was developed before Morton really had a proper system in place, played most of his football for Boys clubs not Morton's youth teams.

Saw the score this morning and my heart sank as that was my immediate thought.

In the last 3 seasons we’ve seen our rivals go from relegation fodder to champions, Livi gain successive promotions and now Ayr United have given themselves a great chance to do the same! It’s fecking soul destroying!

here today, gone to hell

Shankland and mcdaid were excellent last night. Interesting to hear shankland being interviewed at half time saying that mentally he has improved and matured too. Fwiw Murdoch was excellent too. Another reason for McKinnon to be sindied and go back to the taxi's

There's a storm on the horizon

And for that I can't see the sun

For I'll keep a waiting on the pavement

For the ice cream van to come

Was hearing during the week that the Govan Girners have, or are about to, offer £250,000 for Shankland in January.
