TheGoon
If there was one club that you would expect to do this kind of publicity-seeking stunt in Scotland, it was bound to be Partick Thistle. Let's face it, they are the club that due to their location in Glasgow's supposedly 'Trendy' West End and their Media-Luvvies/Students/Cosmopolitan status, have always had that stigma about them of being a club for gay males. They won't be ever considered a proper club like the Lanarkshire/Renfrewshire/Fife/Ayrshire clubs or, dare I say it, even the Old Firm, and it's down to the type of people they seem to attract as supporters. They attract all the wierdo's under the sun, whether it's oddball schoolteachers, young guys who are more camp than Simon from Eastenders, Pot noodle munching studenty types with the physical attributes of Junkies and the manky T shirts to match, wankers with Kelvinside accents, or all of the above. Rainbow flagging it up is their natural territory. Just like the PLO flag is the Green Brigades. When I saw 'Whitehawk' of Brighton in an early FA Cup round a few months back with their Rainbow Flags and their bentshot supporters going about how 'All inclusive' they were, I knew that it was only a matter of time before a Scottish club done the same, and I could have bet my eye teeth that it would be the cuddly toy that is Partick Thistle. Thank fuck Morton aren't involved in that shite. Had to double check this wasn’t a transcript of a cunt phoning into Talksport. Just missing the bit about there being too many coloured folk playing football these days and there not being enough “proper fitbaw men†I absolutely guarantee your rebuttal’s going to be a gay joke as well. Cannot wait.
TONofmemories
Things like this are well worth it just to see all the raging cunts getting themselves all worked up about it. Shame for those who that community actually represents though. What started out as a movement to gain acceptance etc has now turned into a bit of a joke. Every business and their granny jumping all over it like a tramp on chips for the absolute sake of it. Hypocrisy at its finest. TIME FOR CHANGE! TheGoon
It is a very weird thing for straight, mostly white men to get wound up about. Very pleasing to see it having the suspected impact on the usual suspects.
TONofmemories
You obviously didn't see before the edit. 😲 Perhaps not, but i agree with the principal of his point about it so obviously being a thistle thing to do. I find the whole latching onto something like that a little sad tbh TIME FOR CHANGE!

Other Scottish clubs will copy Thistle eventually. If that’s bandwagon jumping then fine, but they’re at the very least making an effort.

TheGoon
It'll do absolutely nothing for the 'community' as you put it. That’s not the point though. You don’t see the LGBT kicking up a fuss about them milking it (I haven’t at least) - it’s supposed to generate discussion and place eyeballs on something football has neglected for quite a while now. Just like the Rainbow Laces stuff - there’s no direct benefit other than putting it into people’s heads, and that’s fine. The reaction from some quarters to the strip shows how long a road there still is to go in gay/trans becoming (relatively) normalised in football. This, and similar campaigns at least get the ball rolling. (And Coisty & Brazil are fantastic)

TopCat
The fact that folk are having a go at Partick over a bit of multicolored piping on an away strip speaks volumes. I don't remember Hearts getting this level of stick for their Save the Children logos. Whenever Rangers have made a nod to similar issues (rainbow laces) the seethe on their Twitter feed has been unbelievable. That tells you all you need to know about taking that "no need" side of the argument. The best way to hound out the knuckle dragging nonsense amplified by the old firm is for the smaller clubs to keep plugging away at a more inclusive approach (although, Partick maybe aren't the best example to use here given their record with sectarian issues). *edit - missing a word
capitanus
It has changed days from the time when Charan Gill tried to invest in Partick Thistle around 20-odd years ago, only for then owner Jim Oliver to rebuke him as 'some guy with a curry hoose'. Oliver then went on a rant in the press saying something along the lines of "couldn't care less if he was a black, one eyed lesbian saxophone player". Who knows, maybe in 20 years time Celtic will open a chain of kindergartens. *insert signature here*
