Seriously, why are people voting Doyle.

That bit alone will suffice.

If this ends up with Iredale and Doyle in our "Team of the Decade" it's probably time to look into seeing if we can join the shinty leagues instead, because football clearly just ain't for us.

McGuffie running away with this is embarrassing. He was only the best of a bad lot and spent his three seasons here trying to avoid relegation.

I don't disagree too much, but at the same time he does have a pretty remarkable medal haul and was, over the piece, a good SPFL player. Admittedly no trophies with us and we didn't see the best of him, but at least he's a guy who had a fairly distinguished career, which sets him apart from...I was going to say the other full-back candidates, but it probably sets him apart from almost everybody else who's going to end up in this team.

None of which really paints Morton in a good light, nor does it mean McGuffie being the pick of the decade's full-backs isn't a bit grim, but still.

My memory is that McGuffie had a good couple of months at right back when his contract was running out and he needed a new deal somewhere. He was a big disappointment in midfield and seemed to be going through the motions for the most part. I do remember him playing well at right back towards the end of a terrible season, but I'm struggling to really remember if he was actually that good at right back or if it was just a pleasant surprise that he wasn't as bad as he was in midfield.

In any case, I'm struggling to pick anyone here. Taggart was good going forward in a team that was playing really well, but was replaced by Reid for the tougher games. Doyle looked solid when Forbes was in outstanding form in front of him, but we seemed more likely to concede than score from his attempted crosses. Pepper looked promising there, but there's not that much to judge him on at right back. I might begrudgingly pick one of the above, or I might just leave it.

No Jason Naismith? He was a bit of a raw boy when he played for us but he's turned into a decent right back

Obviously on a very different scale, but this is essentially the same thing as saying Joe Jordan should be at centre forward in an all time Morton XI despite only playing about 7 games as a winger.

Naismith never played right back for us and was utter mince in his appearances at centre back, regardless of turning out to be a much better right back than everyone else we had there this decade he is not eligible for the conversation of best Morton right backs.

Aye, that's roughly my memory too but it's in my head that he was actually quite good for a decent spell; I suppose that's maybe exaggerated a bit by the fact that he wasn't very good in the middle.

I think I might have mentioned this elsewhere, but there's quite a few of them who fall into the same category of having decent spells here and there. None of them were consistently good though, and certainly not to the level that you'd want them in a Team of the Decade.

I went for Taggart because he was a good attacking fullback in a good team. McGuffie was good when he felt like it but Taggart was a better player to watch. Slim pickings

Peter Weatherson is the greatest player since Ritchie, and should be assigned 'chairman for life'

Pepper was OK but people's perception of him seems to have improved since he was injured/ left because he's a likeable guy.

I think that's slightly harsh, the move to full back was excellent for Pepper. He utilised his pace well, used the ball very well and his poor positional discipline as a holder midfielder was masked. If he hadn't have suffered that injury against Hibs he would have been a shoe-in for this vote.

You address me by my proper title, you little bollocks!

Aye, possibly. There was promise there and you could see he was a decent player which made his injuries sadder but I don't think he done enough to be considered for team of the decade.

In any other position you'd have a point, but that list of right backs is grim at best.

True although the likes of Taggart had decent spells over longer periods so probably edge it for me over a guy that clearly had something about him but was unlucky.

Really silly inclusion.

You chose Michael Doyle and Mark Russell m8, sit down.

The site is supposed to be a place for the extended 'family' of Morton supporters - having an affinity with people that you don't know, because you share a love of your local football club. It's not supposed to be about point scoring and showing how 'clever' or 'funny' you are, or just being downright rude and offensive to people you don't know, because you can get away with it. Unfortunately, it seems the classic case of people who have little standing/presence in real life, use this forum as a way of making themselves feel as if they are something. It's sad, and I've said that before..

So, having been on Morton forums for about 15 years I guess, I've had enough... well done t*ssers, another Morton supporter driven away. You can all feel happy at how 'clever' you are

The correct choice.

Thankfully your not in charge to give us any clowncar 2-5-3 formations

And yet a 2-5-3 would still offer a sounder defensive footing than having dung like Russell and Doyle stinking out the full back positions for any football team.

Thanks for playing anyway champ.
