Gaston isn't perfect, but as you say, we're probably unlikely to land somebody better. If we did then great, but for our level then Gaston's good enough. You're not going to get a perfect goalkeeper.

Definitely, I would go as far as saying he is the 3rd best in the league

Good enough to do what? We started the season with a stated intent of winning promotion to the top flight in the near future; to do that, you need to upgrade on average Championship players like Gaston, just as you would in any other area of the park. That’s not a knock on Gaston’s contribution over his time at the club, but Livingston went up and we didn’t last season in large part due to the gap in quality and leadership in that position.

The site is supposed to be a place for the extended 'family' of Morton supporters - having an affinity with people that you don't know, because you share a love of your local football club. It's not supposed to be about point scoring and showing how 'clever' or 'funny' you are, or just being downright rude and offensive to people you don't know, because you can get away with it. Unfortunately, it seems the classic case of people who have little standing/presence in real life, use this forum as a way of making themselves feel as if they are something. It's sad, and I've said that before..

So, having been on Morton forums for about 15 years I guess, I've had enough... well done t*ssers, another Morton supporter driven away. You can all feel happy at how 'clever' you are

Livingston only got Alexander because he played with them early in his career. Unless we want to bring Stefan Gonet back for a glorious homecoming then let's stick with people like Gaston over overpaid duds like Cammy Bell.

Good people will do good things, bad people will do bad things, but only with religion do good people do bad things!

Exactly. Nobody at all is suggesting we shouldn't always be on the look out for an upgrade or that we should turn down a better option if it comes along but until then Gaston's as good as you'll get in the lower leagues with a few exceptions.

Fact of the matter is we're operating at the bottom end of full-time football and any players we have won't be perfect, keepers are no exception to that. If we came across one who was good at everything and didn't make mistakes he'd be gone within a year.

I get why the manager is doing it, but i agree with SALC. There's been more than a slice of luck in our last 2 results. We actually have players that can pass and move and use the ball properly given the chance. Once again though it looks like we'll be sitting in, defending for our lives and hoping for a break at the other end of the pitch. Anyway, hope our luck continues.

I want a pretentious signature too.

Swear I say this nearly every week but I’d be alright with a draw. Alloa are a tough nut to crack and given the state the squad is in at the minute, I’d accept it. Scully’s carrying an injury but hopefully he isn’t too busy.

Let the shithousing begin.

If Johansson doesn't have an answer beyond sticking bodies in the box, he should chuck it now tbh. We're starting to get into Duffy territory with this idea that poor wee Morton are so bad that we just need to dig in and hope for the best.

We should be fully expecting 12 points from Alloa, Falkirk and Partick and asking questions if we don't do so. These are games we should be winning.

I mean the games kicked off less than 10 mins ago. We might win and then we'll have 3 wins on the bounce at which point the manager is vindicated. Poor football or not his job is just to get points. The squad isn't good enough yet to expect more than that.

Peter Weatherson is the greatest player since Ritchie, and should be assigned 'chairman for life'

Harsh to include Parry amongst that rogues’ gallery. He’s been a decent lower league keeper that’s done the rounds of the juniors, Leagues Two and One before deservedly getting his chance in the Championship after promotion.

He’s no Gianluigi Buffon, but I’d certainly have taken him before Scully.

Take that back about Parry.

Scored both at Alloa last time.

McGhee needs some support, there's no-one backing him up.
Hayes playing it forward, Bell being forced to do it all alone, now forward from Marr, here's Ritchie, still Andy Ritchie, look at the control...

That is a marvellous goal from Andy Ritchie. Twenty minutes on the clock and Morton's supporters come alive. A goal which epitomises the control, the arrogance, the cheek of Andy Ritchie.
