Tom_McB
There is defo no God, Sean knows better than Einstein. "Of all tyrannies, a tyranny exercised for the good of its victims may be the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies. The robber baron's cruelty may sometimes sleep, his cupidity may at some point be satiated; but those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end, for they do so with the approval of their consciences."The goal of Socialism is Communism- Lenin Je ne suis pas Marxiste : K Marx
chris_mceleny
in regards to there being no god. If you dont believe in god and dont live the way god wants you when you die and you are in fact correct then big deal as there's nothing after life anyway. If you dont believe in god and dont live the way god wants you if you die and find out in fact he's real then pity you. So why take the gamble? Guest midTONs
Religion IMO is a pile of crap. Depends what you are referring ''religion'' to, the Protestant Catholic divide? if so then i agree with you it's a pile of crap. But I see my self as a Christian and I believe in God but I have no time the divisions within the Christian faith.

Alibi
Sean knows better than Einstein. In fact Tom, Einstein did not believe in god, although some of his remarks were taken as implying that. I don't have the reference to hand, but there is a statement made by Einstein that makes it clear that he is not a believer. IMHO god is a man-made concept. If you start from that standpoint, the whole business (and actually when I think about it, it is a business) of religions of all varieties simply appears ludicrous. "Any nation given the opportunity to regain its national sovereignty and which then rejects it is so far beneath contempt that it is hard to put words to it." I think a lot of scientific big bang mumbo jumbo a bit ludicrous an'all . Not really thrown myself into religion but if I was it definitely have to be a cool laid back one like Shintoism or Buddhism rather than aggressive ones like Islam or right wing Christianity, at the moment I will keep an open mind on it and not disregard either viewpoint out of hand. When our lives are so short and insignificent we are probably only starting to understand the complex nature of the universe. Then again do you believe in evolution ?
