Saw this message on the local Greenock & District Sunday Welfare League facebook page. May be of interest to groups of folk playing 5s or 7s regularly and interested in getting involved in 11 aside football.

The league was very strong a few years ago (boasting 16 teams) but has dropped to just 6 teams recently so is looking for new clubs to freshen things up.

The season is a few weeks away from ending but this is the time to start looking at the next season, 2017-18 which starts in August.
We currently have 6 teams this season but we already have 3 teams wanting to join next season.

The Royalle are a team of young guys (early 20s) from Gourock who play 7s every week and since they stopped playing youth football they are looking at getting back into competitive football.

OC United are a team made of from a group of guys from all age groups and locations across Inverclyde who play football frequently through 7 a side and 11 a side and decided to start their own team.

The 3rd team that wants to participate next season have no name yet but they are a mixed aged group ranging from 19 to 40ish from Dunoon, they play 5s every week and the occasional 11s but wanted to play more competitively and are keen to travel to Inverclyde each week to do that.

We are still looking at adding teams for next season so drop us a mail at committee@gdwl.co.uk or pm us here on Facebook.

More Details:
Starting around August our games are played on Sundays at any of the fantastic 3G facilities in and around Inverclyde.

All the following are organised and paid for by the association: Venues, opponents, referees, Insurance and registrations on the SFA registrations system, so this is a lot of things your team doesn't have to worry about.

Start up fees for new clubs are being waived for the up and coming season.

The weekly cost will be determined at the AGM but at the moment our match fees at £65, this covers the venue costs, referees fees, insurance fees and the admin costs.

Even if you are from outwith the district we are keen to hear from you if you are looking for competitive football at a reasonable cost.

Cheers,

GDWL Committee
