Squad and transfers 2019/20

See Robert Thomson greeting that he had to pay for half of his operation at the end of this season and that was one reason why he never stayed with us. Why the **** should we pay the full cost for an operation for a guy who has done heehaw for us in the past 2 years? What if we’d paid it in full, he rejects our contract offer and signs elsewhere? Glad we’re rid of him. Dud.

The thing that annoyed me about him was he never looked interested. There was the odd game he put the effort in and was effective so to me that shows a poor attitude and that it wasn't just his style of play.

If you actually read the story then you’d know that the club was haggling over contributions to the cost of the operation in exchange him ending his contract earlier without pay for weeks on end, which is his issue. You could argue about the need for ‘sustainability’ but that’s tinpot behaviour from the club.

No wonder he decided to leave but he won’t be missed anyway.

The site is supposed to be a place for the extended 'family' of Morton supporters - having an affinity with people that you don't know, because you share a love of your local football club. It's not supposed to be about point scoring and showing how 'clever' or 'funny' you are, or just being downright rude and offensive to people you don't know, because you can get away with it. Unfortunately, it seems the classic case of people who have little standing/presence in real life, use this forum as a way of making themselves feel as if they are something. It's sad, and I've said that before..

So, having been on Morton forums for about 15 years I guess, I've had enough... well done t*ssers, another Morton supporter driven away. You can all feel happy at how 'clever' you are

I dunno, they'd have been paying for an operation when he wouldn't be playing for the club again unless a new manager wanted him so it's not that clear cut.

That’s the risk a professional football club takes whenever it contracts a player. If they don’t like it, they should insure against that cost instead of acting like a bunch of two-bob diddies.

All clubs need insurance to be affiliated to the SFA right down to Sunday league.

The facts are he was at the end of his contract and at the end of the season so without knowing who recommended the op and if that was the only option he had, then I don't think it's clear cut.

Its only not clear cut if you're amoral, which you clearly are.

Aye it's right up there with condoning fake lawyers letters, posting pictures of young children, people hanging from trees and harrasing people at their work place.

Stay classy Gordon.

That’s basic insurance: if the club has got a problem with paying excessive medical costs on top of that then they can arrange more comprehensive cover. If they didn’t do that then that’s the club’s problem and not Thomson’s.

He also wasn’t at the end of his contract; as the story quite clearly explains, the club wanted him off the payroll before his deal fully expired. Contributing toward the costs of the operation was their laughable incentive to do so - no wonder he wasn’t impressed by their constant tinpot behaviour over the past few months.

Not quite as classy as spending over £6k of your members money without asking them.

Then recouping fůck all. 😆

Aye, a voluntary role that has helped raise about 30k for the clubs youth while getting harassed by an old alky is right up there with the level of harassment you condone.

You've been chucked off a message board, rejoined under another name and been groomed by a wrong un. Imagine how your weans feel knowing that's their dad.

*Towards the end of his contact.

Anyway, like I said, we don't know if the operation was necessary or just something he wanted for himself at a point when the club didn't know if he'd be here.

It was necessary. Regardless of how good or bad the player is, if the injury is picked up whilst playing with us, we should have enough support to cover it. The situation with Thomson was really badly handled.

Yeah he might have just wanted an operation for a laugh: professional footballers do that all the time while scrambling for a new deal somewhere.

The alternate universe that wannabe club flunkeys like yourself inhabit is truly mind-blowing.

Agreed. Not impressed by this at all.

If we're going ahead with a small squad - meaning not much rotation - we really have a duty of care towards the guys who we do sign. There must be some kind of insurance package out there where we can get these things covered, surely?

No, there's often other ways of rehabilitation. An operation is one option and normally the most expensive.
