£100,000 on a janitor from Angus. They should at least write that off as a gesture of goodwill to the fans.

Kieran McAnespie for 20k also. A guy we had training with us, let him sign a contract with a club, then we made a move to sign him.

Signing the wrong Marc McCulloch also.

Shambles.

No, it was Golden Casket, which is a limited liability company. This is more than just semantics. I'm not saying he had no skin in the game, or that he was greedy, but the raw fact of the matter is that it's not "his" 2m because he's not personally liable for it.

Funny how now that he's gone the whole financial situation at Cappielow has now changed and we are no longer going to get any money from GC.

We can’t even get 2500 to Cappielow every 2nd week.

I certainly wouldn’t pay an extra £10 a month to cover the losses of a board who can’t run things properly.

Would you though if it was a different board?

Yes and no. Unless I missed it, GC was largely only providing an interest-free loan to Morton -  something they want back. Like some others, I thought the party line was this debt was written off when DDFR headed off to pastures new. Don't get me wrong DDFR did invest heavily in Morton but more often than not this was in misguided vanity projects.

Dougie did write of some of the dept but there was never an expectation that when he died it would be written off.

So, if I want to buy GC it will come with an I.o.u of 3m quid?

Maybe not, if the Rae's are intent in selling the club the debt to GC would need to be something that was up for discussion or else there is no chance anyone would buy, maybe for £1 but not much more.

These sort of things always strike me as a bit pie-in-the-sky. First of all, 2500 folk is far too optimistic. Secondly, after the initial uptake, with council tax bills, rent/mortgages, broadband bills, motoring expenses, phone bills Christmas presents and other essential bills, what will be the first thing that folk that might not earn a great deal will be giving up, or get bored paying without seeing any obvious return?

The likelihood of making £300k a year out of 2500 folk without considering mitigating factors is back of a fag packet calculations at their finest.

Nope, I'm not joking. Thta's what a lot of other fans are doing right now at other clubs in Scotland.

They’re really not and if you think that Morton have 2000 regular backers for any scheme - never mind this shan ‘subsidy Championship football’ scheme then you’re utterly deluded.

The site is supposed to be a place for the extended 'family' of Morton supporters - having an affinity with people that you don't know, because you share a love of your local football club. It's not supposed to be about point scoring and showing how 'clever' or 'funny' you are, or just being downright rude and offensive to people you don't know, because you can get away with it. Unfortunately, it seems the classic case of people who have little standing/presence in real life, use this forum as a way of making themselves feel as if they are something. It's sad, and I've said that before..

So, having been on Morton forums for about 15 years I guess, I've had enough... well done t*ssers, another Morton supporter driven away. You can all feel happy at how 'clever' you are

It was back of fag packet but it was just to illustrate what would be required.

Nah not deluded, I'll leave that to people who think we are a bigger club than what we are. Just being realistic to what is required to change things at Cappielow.

Given that you reckon that 2,000 people are going to shell out a tenner a month to take over GC’s shan subsidy role, the only person needing a serious reality check here is yourself.

If you're representative of our current board then it's no wonder we're up shit creek. I pray you're speaking as someone with inside knowledge and no more.

What is Morton valued at?

The only way I can see is attracting a

Buyer is if someone purchased golden casket also.

The thing is, Rae has said he's open to investment if its ambitious so it's open for offers if anyone is in any way interested.

I tell you what we are bigger than? Hamilton Accies and Livingston. There's 2 for starters. I'm sick of the attitude of you and your ilk. Say who you are and stop hiding behind your username. Morton are the biggest underachievers in Scottish football and people like you have contributed to that with your pathetic attitude to the club we love. Go fuck yourself.

9SBC often turns up at times like this, whenever the boot is (rightly or wrongly) getting stuck into the board, but always seems to disappear or avoid the question when asked who he/she is.

Who are you, 9SBC?

Epitomizes everything wrong with our club. Refuses to be held accountable. Spineless.

Funny how now that he's gone the whole financial situation at Cappielow has now changed and we are no longer going to get any money from GC.

It's something many people (yourself included?) said was likely to happen. My question is, surely he knew it was going to happen? That after he was gone, those in control of GC didn't share his desire to keep subsidizing a hopeless football team? If he did know it, what steps if any did he take to ensure Morton wouldn't just have the rug pulled from under them? If he didn't know it, why the hell not?

We didn’t ‘get’ money from Golden Casket though, it wasn’t given to the club, it’s there in the form of a bill to be paid back at whatever point it returns to being a football club rather than a subsidiary of a group.

We’re getting into club versus holding company territory here.

Doubt it. I’d say buying a season ticket, doing the occasional hospitality and buying tops is more than enough money going to Morton when I’ve also got a family.
