Hopkin Appointed

Recommended Posts

It’s simple, you tell Celtic to fuck aff and train on it once a week maybe, sure it’ll be fine, calm doon mate!

Unless the cost saving of binning Parklea outweighs the income from Celtic, doubt it.

I refuse to believe Duffy couldn’t have got a desk somewhere about Cappielow, even in Andy Bryan’s room. Christ knows what he’d have needed an office for - all that research into the various dutch ringers that appeared on trial maybe.

Aye, was clearly bollocks. I'm sure if he'd asked he'd have got one.

I'm quite pleased with this appointment tbh. While it's no secret that I wouldn't put Hopkin at the top of my realistic picks to earn the honour of managing The Famous and also believe that the weirdo 'Hoppy' fluffers in the Cafe should probably seek professional help for that problem, it's also pretty clear that this is just one big package deal. We're getting a manager with a decent record at this level on a long term basis almost entirely due to his close working relationship with people who are going to invest in the club, who weren't willing to invest under substantially different terms to that.

This time last month we faced the realistic prospect of going into next season with a totally disinterested GC and their gormless and incompetent cipher Iron Man running the club down under the watchword of 'sustainability'; while on the pitch the Finnish dud, his purple-faced roaster of an assistant and captain for life Dylan Dykes scrabbled to avoid automatic relegation at the expense of Arbroath. As part of this package deal, three of them have already been ruthlessly emptied and I can see GC being pushed somewhat closer to the exit door in the near future as well. That doesn't mean that the club is out of the woods yet - not least given the scrutiny that any new investor must be subjected to - but there's at least a clear sense of direction at this once-proud football club that was completely absent just a short time ago.

The site is supposed to be a place for the extended 'family' of Morton supporters - having an affinity with people that you don't know, because you share a love of your local football club. It's not supposed to be about point scoring and showing how 'clever' or 'funny' you are, or just being downright rude and offensive to people you don't know, because you can get away with it. Unfortunately, it seems the classic case of people who have little standing/presence in real life, use this forum as a way of making themselves feel as if they are something. It's sad, and I've said that before..

So, having been on Morton forums for about 15 years I guess, I've had enough... well done t*ssers, another Morton supporter driven away. You can all feel happy at how 'clever' you are

Dry yer fucking eyes, if the training is going to be at Cappielow obviously Mark Farrell has said it’s sound, if not it won’t be there, your filling yer nappy about it!

Ok, lets not discuss the things from the interview that stand out as a point of interest.

TIME FOR CHANGE!

Duffy was moaning about there not being a manager's office, so maybe Hopkin is meaning along those lines with team meetings, video analysis etc all happening at Cappielow.

No idea if that's the case now or not, right enough.

He needed somewhere to compose his weekly thoughts about celtic in his column in the Sun .

"One big package deal" might be just what we need, as opposed to a number of different agendas in what was becoming an increasingly fragmented organisation.

Sorry if I’ve missed this being posted but there was a decent discussion of Morton ‘at the crossroads’ on the most recent A View from the Terrace (on iPlayer until Sat). Seemed to have a decent perspective on fans’ views of JJ/Houston leaving, acknowledged post-DDF uncertainty, but also said we are in a similar position to other clubs at this level and so the right appointment (which, before the fact, they thought Hopkin would be) could have us challenging to get into the play-offs.

Show has generally been very good at covering Scottish Football from top to bottom if you haven’t watched so far.
