Because i'm not naive enough to think he actually gives a ****.  Quids in for him.

We're mugging him off by not playing him and dicking around with his contract. He owes us **** all.

Falkirk don't represent the only offer on the table for him though. Tidser is more than entitled to pursue his career elsewhere but if he goes to that outfit in their current predicament for the sake of a better pay check then he would be a mercenary and a massive King Snake just like the rest of them. It's that straightforward.

The site is supposed to be a place for the extended 'family' of Morton supporters - having an affinity with people that you don't know, because you share a love of your local football club. It's not supposed to be about point scoring and showing how 'clever' or 'funny' you are, or just being downright rude and offensive to people you don't know, because you can get away with it. Unfortunately, it seems the classic case of people who have little standing/presence in real life, use this forum as a way of making themselves feel as if they are something. It's sad, and I've said that before..

So, having been on Morton forums for about 15 years I guess, I've had enough... well done t*ssers, another Morton supporter driven away. You can all feel happy at how 'clever' you are

Of course it's possible that the Record story is just fabricated from gossip on the internet...  We'll know by Friday anyway.

This x10. If he went to Dundee or that then fair enough,if he goes to Falkirk then he can expect to be hounded for the rest of his career.

I don't think there's any really good reason why Tidser or any other player should care about Falkirk, to be honest. The sad fact of the matter is that even at this moment in time they're a better proposition than Morton with a better manager and better wages, I don't really expect a player to turn down a good offer due to supporters not liking the other team.

Pretty much every player on the planet is a mercenary, there's no point getting all precious about it.

Sticks in the throat a bit given that Tidser was paid for half a season when he couldn’t play (our fault, not his).

Still can’t blame him for taking any offer that gets him away from JJ, and indeed, the club.

Tempted to see what the current odds are on us going down via the playoffs.

McGhee needs some support, there's no-one backing him up.
Hayes playing it forward, Bell being forced to do it all alone, now forward from Marr, here's Ritchie, still Andy Ritchie, look at the control...

That is a marvellous goal from Andy Ritchie. Twenty minutes on the clock and Morton's supporters come alive. A goal which epitomises the control, the arrogance, the cheek of Andy Ritchie.

Birthday caird pish. Tidser already has a deal and guaranteed income until the summer and has been treated far better by the club than just about anyone could expect in the professional game (it hasn't been a one-way deal of course; if he was gubbins then he'd have been emptied long ago).

The elephant in the room here is not the big bad board for not throwing around new deals for players long in advance - it is the clueless idiot in the dugout who doesn't know how to use Tidser or any other of his key players in the team. In fact, we can't say for sure whether TTGJ would even offer Tidser a new deal.

The best chance that the club has of retaining Tidser and other key players is to remove the incompetent clown mismanaging them on a weekly basis. That is the decision that the board has to make and only by failing to do that in good time would they have contributed to a player's departure.

So his family are in fact already 'being fed' from wages that he has guaranteed until the summer and he has several options to consider then. And he already has a side business outside of football to operate as well. 95% of footballers in Scottish professional football would be delighted to have that level of financial security already in place - so let's not pretend that financial necessity dictates a move.

Players can justifiably leave to play at a higher level (as the Dundee offer on the table might provide) and certainly to stop warming the bench for a Finnish dud; making a sideways or downward move just because there's more money on the table is sheer mercenary behaviour. It would be no more acceptable coming from Tidser than it was when a parade of players dropped to the fourth tier to play for a ridiculous village outfit like Gretna.

You talk absolute pish at times.

If Tidser leaves for Falkirk for more wages it will show you how rotten we are behind the scenes. What has changed since his love for the club meant he turned down higher wages to come back to us the last time?!

Actually, in more ways than one if Tidser leaves for Falkirk it’s game over !

Much as I like Tidser, he probably didn’t get off to the best start under the current manager when he stayed on when clearly injured, and fluffed a penalty at a crucial point in one of his first games in charge, and it’s been mostly downhill from there for him.

Over the course of his time(s) at Cappielow he's shown more consistency than that. And from what I've read he's still been better than McAlister and Telfer.

Tidser can leave as is his right to do so and the blame will be firmly at morton's door if they've made little or no attempt to keep him.

My issue will be if Tidser chooses those rat snake bastards though when there's other offers on the table then like king rat snake bastard he will be hounded each and every time he plays against us.

And my initial reaction to this is, lol, it's paper talk to get folk clicking.

But then that was my initial reaction to the McKinnon to Falkirk news, too.

It could also a little bit of pressure to get other clubs to increase their offers and move for him now. Dundee were linked and that move would make a lot of sense for them. I said before the game on Saturday that I could see Tidser moving to Dundee this week, I didn't expect Falkirk to be linked like this but I could see him moving on.

How crazy would it be if we actually let him go to Falkirk this month? It would be akin to begging to be in a relegation battle.

I'd like to think the BoD knows the fanbase - even the supposedly mild-mannered ones who don't post on here - would regard that as an absolute scandal.

Then again half the happy-clappers would probably praise them for it.

Dundee's not a move without its risks. A team that's probably going to be in a relegation play-off (at best), which probably wouldn't be favourites in it and, looking at the relegated teams over the last few years, wouldn't be a stick-on to even be in the title-chasing pack is very far from an attractive proposition.

As much as I like Tids, I'm not sure anybody higher up the top flight is going to want him which means Falkirk, horrible year this year aside, are a pretty decent proposition for him whether we like it or not.

Strange to paint the Dundee trap door scenario but not Falkirk's similar scenario but a League down.

In the summer as a free agent he will have a number of clubs interested. If we don't offer him a good deal and he goes that will be pretty much the way it is with any player.

Letting him leave now would be plain stupidity, letting him go to Falkirk is unthinkable for a number of reasons the most important of which is why on earth would we strengthen direct opponents in our league?

Falkirk have 18 points from 22 games (0.82 points per game).  We have 29 points (average of 1.32 per game), so 11 points ahead.  There are 14 games remaining.  If we even got only 1 point per game from now on, we would finish with 43 points.  To get above us, Falkirk would need to get to 44 (ignoring goal difference for now) which means they would have to accrue 26 points from their remaining games, or 1.86 points per game.  If we maintained our 1.32 points per game average for the rest of the season, we would end up with 47.58 points so let's call it 47, and that would require Falkirk to get 2.07 points per game on average.  For either scenario, I doubt that they have improved that much frankly as that is title winning form (Ross County have an average of 1.91 points per game and Ayr 1.86).  I doubt Falkirk are capable of such a massive turnaround, even to get to the 44 point level.

We do need to raise our game if we want to avoid a worrying few months, but it's in our own hands.  More than anything else we need to start scoring goals again - Dallas might help in that regard and playing Tidser further forward would help further.  There you are, JJ.  Just do it.

Because I don't think Falkirk are going to go down, whereas Dundee probably will.

It's not about what you think though, you were painting a risk scenario for Tidser to assess.

Falkirk have now spent 2 seasons competing at the bottom end of the Championship, flirting with relegation. They've dropped their youth academy due to running costs and have had several bouts of compensation to deal with (potentially more to come). Not a pretty picture.

If Dundee come down, they'll have the parachute payments to challenge or at least cement in this league and are unlikely to fall again (Partick being the car crash exception to that possibility). Falkirk could go down, or at least struggle again.

Still think you've painted it all a bit rosy for Falkirk's prospects.

Not sure how the numbers compare, but St Mirren's save me performance and Falkirk's last season were widely quoted as being the best form in the league, Championship winning form if you like. Bewildering that Falkirk then ripped that up in the summer unlike St Mirren the year before who built on it and won the league the following season. Idiotic.

Can't see the new McKinnon team having that in them though.
