MacDonald like everyone else should have to earn his way up to getting a management job at The Famous. While we shouldn’t be handing it to a complete novice again, I suspect the club will swing to the other extreme and target only ‘good fitba men*’ for the role.

The site is supposed to be a place for the extended 'family' of Morton supporters - having an affinity with people that you don't know, because you share a love of your local football club. It's not supposed to be about point scoring and showing how 'clever' or 'funny' you are, or just being downright rude and offensive to people you don't know, because you can get away with it. Unfortunately, it seems the classic case of people who have little standing/presence in real life, use this forum as a way of making themselves feel as if they are something. It's sad, and I've said that before..

So, having been on Morton forums for about 15 years I guess, I've had enough... well done t*ssers, another Morton supporter driven away. You can all feel happy at how 'clever' you are

VikingTon’s a fantastic man! He really is.

I was talking to him earlier and he asked me what kind of phone I had and I said an iPhone 5. And he said, ‘that’s saaad, you want to upgrade’. I said, so do you – to a better poster!

He nearly soiled himself! He said he was laughing so hard he had bovril coming out of his nostrils, and that made me laugh. But…my nostrils were clear.

Like Brian Wake has?

There's a storm on the horizon

And for that I can't see the sun

For I'll keep a waiting on the pavement

For the ice cream van to come

Like Brian Wake has?

Well yes actually: Wake started in the lower levels of management, won the league undefeated, moved onto a bigger club, had them top of the table before being headhunted by Swedish top flight cracks Ostersunds to join their coaching staff. That's the sort of route that all ex-pros should have completed before being considered by Morton or another supposedly professional football club - and if MacDonald enjoys similar success with lower league clubs in Scotland or abroad then I'd gladly take him as manager too.

Your rolling meltdown about it suggests otherwise.

This is genuinely bizarre. Take the names and VT’s tendency to regularly mention Wake out of this and look at the facts about them both.

We have an ex-Morton player whose coaching experience is with our under-17s, 12 games as joint-caretaker manager at a fourth tier side and a couple of years with the under-14s of a top flight side. The sum total of his proper management experience is 12 games in the fourth tier, W3 D3 L6.

We have another ex-Morton player whose coaching experience started as a first team coach, joining a side in the third tier and staying with them as they progressed to the top flight. He then left to become the manager of a fifth tier side and won a league title undefeated, moved on to another fourth tier outfit before returning to the top flight club as a coach again. The sum total of his proper management experience is 27 games across fourth and fifth tiers, W19 D8 L0.

By all means be annoyed at VT mentioning one of the two so often, but if you’re going to say that Wake is a ridiculous suggestion due to his lack of pedigree then arguing for MacDonald to get the job is obviously contradictory.

Neither have managed clubs at close to as high a level as Morton, and I’m going to assume no one here has ever watched lower league Swedish football to know what the standard is like. I couldn’t argue with anyone saying that the position we’re in is about the worst possible scenario for a club to take a gamble on an unknown manager, for all that I generally deplore the ‘safe pair of hands’ type of dinosaur whose main aspiration is mediocrity. We also have no idea if either of them would have any interest in the job.

However, if you’re going to dismiss gambles on that basis, Peter MacDonald would quite evidently be a considerably bigger gamble than Brian Wake based on their respective coaching pedigrees. If you want to argue against Wake that’s obviously fine and this post isn’t even intended as an argument for or against Wake, but to argue against him in favour of Peaso is evidently ridiculous.

No one ever knows how managerial gambles are going to work out, but looking at their respective careers the only basis on which you could consider Peaso a better option is that he has knowledge of the club from previously coaching with us and you rated him as a player. Giving importance to those irrelevant measures is how we ended up with Jonatan ****ing Johansson in the first place.

I’d like to see David Hopkin appointed if he’s available.

Just resigned as Bradford manager...

I would point out that while he obviously bounced back spectacularly with Livingston, that’s now twice he’s taken over a team in a relegaion battle and failed to turn it round.

Bradford appear to be in a mess at the moment though. Think they are now looking for their 5th/6th manager in the last 12 months which suggests there's a bigger problem than the manager.

Yup, Morton a totally different prospect then... *

Wider issues at the running of the club accepted, manager is main immediate priority though.

A competent manager would get more out of our squad. It has it's problems but we've a set of players capable of winning more games than we currently are.
