  1. 1. What do you think has happened with Tidser?

    • Signed a pre-contract elsewhere
    • Signed a new deal with Morton
    • Nothing
    • Don't know

So what? If the move served to benefit his poor wee, bedraggled family then that's all he should have thought about when making his decision. Either that or we can just file that sob story in the bin and call mercenary snake conduct for what it is.

Nah. Not having this. Tidser has never been anything but professional and a great servant to the club. Since returning he's been fucked about by Duffy and Johansen and has always got his head down and worked hard regardless.

He's leaving to go to a club who will be better than us next season, on more money and a longer contract. As well as that he's going to play for a manager who rates him highly. Said it before but it's a no brainer for me and he'll leave with my best wishes.

There's a storm on the horizon

And for that I can't see the sun

For I'll keep a waiting on the pavement

For the ice cream van to come

Not sure how I feel about the whole thing.

I understand he's got a family to look after etc, but it's a right boot in the balls that he's going to them.

Additionally, part of me feels that the fact the majority on here are jusr accepting of it really shows us as cuddly toy club willing to roll over to them again. Perhaps I'm wrong.

They'll continue to make a mockery of us next season and we'll be scraping the barrel trying to replace him. Can see Millar making a run for it too

As regards 'accepting it' there isn't anything else we can do other than throwing a childish strop, doing a bit of name-calling and generally giving the impression that we don't know what it is like to live in the real world.

Michael Tidser owes us nothing other than to fulfil his contract to the best of his ability and from what I have seen of him that is what he will do.

Of course we now all despise Falkirk, but would anyone on here not move if someone in their field of work offered them double their existing wage and a longer contract?

Ultimately it's as simple as that.

The hissy fit he threw that led to him being dropped because we wouldn't let him jump ship in January begs to differ.

Glad to know what you really think about Ray McKinnon's departure as well then.

'SImple' being the operative word for a comparison between a bog-standard career and that of a professional footballer, as footballers' wages are ultimately paid by partisan fans and not by completely disinterested customers. Mo Johnston, Luis Figo etc. can vouch for the fact that you are barking up the wrong tree with that argument.

The site is supposed to be a place for the extended 'family' of Morton supporters - having an affinity with people that you don't know, because you share a love of your local football club. It's not supposed to be about point scoring and showing how 'clever' or 'funny' you are, or just being downright rude and offensive to people you don't know, because you can get away with it. Unfortunately, it seems the classic case of people who have little standing/presence in real life, use this forum as a way of making themselves feel as if they are something. It's sad, and I've said that before..

So, having been on Morton forums for about 15 years I guess, I've had enough... well done t*ssers, another Morton supporter driven away. You can all feel happy at how 'clever' you are

Sorry, when has Tidser been '****ed around' by anyone in his Morton career? He didn't get a game in our strongest season under Duffy because he wasn't good enough. If he is asked to play in a different position then that's called doing his ****ing job just like any other player in the squad.

Then when he could have extended his deal, reached the verge of a testimonial and had a genuine claim to being a 'great servant to the club', he alone made the choice to become a club serpent instead. Rather than actually being professional and keeping his head down, Tidser through his agent instead went round publicly advertising his contract offers in the last transfer window to the detriment of the team. Then despite having offers from bigger clubs at a higher level of the game on the table as well, he chose to go to a club and manager who royally ****ed over his teammates and the club just six months previously. None of that behaviour is excusable and it completely wipes out whatever degree of professionalism he has shown on a football pitch over previous years.

Glad someone said it. This whole attitude of treating football like 'any other business' is part of what is killing the sport.

I'm not really convinced by the idea that Dundee is a more attractive proposition for Tidser in footballing terms. If a good Premiership team was willing to shape their team to accommodate him he'd do well for sure, but the level of team that'd be willing to do that is going to sign somebody better, whilst he'd most likely struggle to impose himself for a bottom-end side.

Playing well for a top-end Championship team is just about Tidser's optimum level, especially as a player who seems to value being able to enjoying his football as much as anything, which puts Falkirk over the last decade as a good option for him.

He played well at the bottom end of the Premiership with Ross County. I think there's a difference between the good functioning part of a team that Tidser has shown he can be, whether in a deeper midfield role or even out wide, and the outstanding focal point of midfield in a more advanced role we know he can be. We obviously want him to be the latter for us, but he is also shown that he is capable of being a good part of a team in other ways (as he was at Ross County previously).

Tidser is on about 600 a week (one of the top earners) before tax Falkirk have doubled his basic wage and gave him a 2 year deal.

Been told it is much more than that and the Falkirk offer was even better.

It was generally accepted that we signed him on silly money when we brought him back up the road from Rotherham in 2015 so can't see him taking around a 50% drop in wages when he signed his extension in 2017.

Ether way, what we do know is we couldn't compete regardless!

He's on about 600 a week before tax that's a given. How much more do you think he is getting thats a serious question btw now before you answer consider that Andy murdoch was on 350 a week n that's a fact.

Basic wage and what they are actually paid aren't the same. Appearance bonuses, win bonuses, goal bonuses etc. matter a lot at this level.

Tidser was probably taking home closer to 1k per week when averaged out over the year.

It's not though.

But moving to a new employer of ill repute, one who had specifically wronged my previous employer myself, my colleagues and everyone else associated with my previous employer just a few months earlier means there's more to consider than just the finances.

Tidser isn't stupid, he knows this (his comments about some people having opinions on it show that). He knows there will, rightfully, be a backlash from some quarters but he decided to do it regardless.

He made a mercenary decision in self interest, disregarding what had gone on before.

Fuck him.
