rawheed rex Posted February 26, 2009 Share Posted February 26, 2009 was out in durham saterday night. and bumt in to a lad from barhead recognizing each others accents we got talking on telling him i am from greenock he says you must be a celtic man comeing from greenock. no mate greenock morton turns out he was a rangers supporter. and he approvd of me supporting my local team poor bas didny have a chance he got ma full speach a bout how the O.F are f***ing all the so called littel clubs with the glory hunting bigits. how the f*** is greenock a celtic town. when the f*** did that happen. Discretionary donations from visitors (I presume members pay fees) for using the club's facilities I suppose. I've never been there and don't know any members so I wouldn't know for sure. He also goes on about it being the richest supporters' club in Britain.... I've never thought of Greenock as being a 'Celtic' town any more than Kilmarnock is a 'Rangers' town, though I know what you're driving at. When Rangers were winning the league every year there was as many scabby wee neds floating about the town with their tracksuits on as there are with Celtic now. Certainly, there's a lot of green and grey hoops on show these days. Also, the box in the Celtic club is for the Little Sisters, I think? Growing up as a youngster i would have said the Port was more a majority of Celtic fans although this has changed over the years for some reason. When i was brought up in the Gibby before that there used to be hordes of fans heading down the road to watch Morton, me being one of them. When I say fans, I mean the ones who actually go to the games. Using supporters buses as a (very rough) guide, Sellick usually take about 6, Morton about 4 and Rangers about 2 I think. Well done for standing up for those of us who choose to support out team, but I don't think the guy was completely out of line. Is our local Celtic Supporters Club not the biggest in Scotland?
