Kilday had a good season in 15/16, and a very good start to the following season. I thought he'd be awful at centre half after his first season at right back, but he certainly proved me wrong over that year. He's never got back to that level since.

I don't know why he gets so much more criticism than Buchanan though.

Add Harkins to Millar, McAlister and Tidser and the Craggy Island All-Priest Five-a-Side would have more pace and mobility.

Yip, and some were getting carried away with excitement pre-season over the signings of Millar and McAlister to play alongside Tidser in midfield. Some definitely said we'd have the strongest midfield in the league...

Whoever let Murdoch go, has absolutely no idea about football.

A really disappointing and disjointed performance. Our defence are incredibly shaky and do not look convincing at all. Kilday is absolutely done and we should cut our losses with him in January, yet another poor performance and given he's now played over a dozen games, I see nothing to convince me that he's ever going to be good enough ever again. Although Peterhead's goal came down our left hand side, the channel between Tumilty and Kilday is a clear and obvious weakness that can be exploited by teams below our level, never mind at this level.

The midfield in the first half was incredibly flat and one paced. Even if you're giving Tumilty and Iredale the benefit of the doubt as they're now playing at wing back, they offered very little going forward. Iredale, aside from the excellent cross for our goal, was really poor. His passing, especially his long passing, was really poor and his decision making going forward wasn't good enough. I can't pinpoint whether it was an instruction or his own decision making, but Iredale had a few chances to play either a cut back or play the ball inside before taking the full back on, and failed to do so. The lack of intelligence and variety in attack wasn't limited to Iredale, but I thought that was the most obvious example. While I'm glad he is now playing through the middle, Telfer simple needs to contribute more and stop going missing for ten minute spells when the game gets scrappy. The lack of cohesion between Oliver and McHugh is also concerning. I remember saying last season that the two of them need to strike up a better understanding with each other and Saturday shows little sign of improvement.

In terms of his game management, Johansson deserves credit for being bold enough take McAlister off at half time. Millar's introduction improved our midfield instantly, however it did not cure the issue of us being incredibly predictable and pedestrian middle-to-front. This shape simply does not seem to work when we are expected to win and take the initiative in the game. If we go out of the Scottish Cup, in a season where we really don't have anything else to get excited about, it's going to be a major blot in Johansson's copy book.

Too long, didn't read :)

Peterhead manager Jim McInally knows the element of surprise has gone for the Blue Toon but he still believes his side can match Morton in their Scottish Cup replay tonight.

The Blue Toon earned a second shot at their Championship opponents when they drew 1-1 with the Ton at Cappielow on Saturday and while he concedes it will be a tall order trying to repeat the feat McInally insists it is not mission impossible for his players.

He said: “Our chance might have gone because of the quick turnaround but hopefully we will play well and give them another game.

“Our second half performance on Saturday was better than the first as we had control of the game and if we play at that level again they will know they are in a game whatever the outcome.

“The last thing I wanted on Saturday was for it to be a typical Championship v League 2 game where we lose 3-0 and get no credit for our performance at all and we’re in the same situation.

“We know them now and we were able to give as good as we got on Saturday.

“We can match them physically but it is producing a level of performance which will decide whether we go through.”

McInally believes the difference between full-time and part-time players will be clear when the two teams meet again tonight and will make changes to his line-up to accommodate the extra demands which have been put on his side.

He said: “Our players were back at their work on Monday while Morton are training and preparing for the game, and we’ll have to make changes as well.

“We’ve got good depth in the squad this season but Derek Lyle told me after the game on Saturday there was no way his body would handle another game in midweek and a league game against Annan on Saturday so he won’t play.

“Paddy Boyle is another one. He’s been out for so long that asking him to play three games in a week would probably kill him at this point so I won’t risk him either and we’ll need to check on Mick Dunlop.”

The Blue Toon boss says he is the reason why the two teams are playing again in a matter of days from their first meeting but hopes his calculated cup risk pays off in the coming weeks in League 2.

He said: “I have to take the blame a bit for playing the replay so quickly as I didn’t want to risk a replay next week when we’ve got a big game against Edinburgh City coming up the following week.

“We were disappointed as we wanted to play Edinburgh during the international break but they wouldn’t agree and it actually feels as if karma has played a part as they now have a replay at Caley Thistle next week.”

I think Harkins would excel in the midfield we have now. Millar playing behind him and Tidser would be tremendous.

I was seething when we signed him originally but he did well in his time here. I await VT to point out that he was a CM in a team that finished near the bottom last season but don’t think he was utilised correctly for the most part given Duffy couldn’t find a settled team all season.

Good to see that I don't need to point out that fact anymore. What I find equally baffling though is the idea that because our central midfielders last season were only ineffective because the manager couldn't find his best eleven they'd be suddenly much better now - we've hardly got Arrigo Sacchi calling the shots now.

If your excuse for failure is that the manager doesn't know what he's doing then it applies just as much to the current players, who just so happen have a far better pedigree than Harkins as well. Make your mind up.

The site is supposed to be a place for the extended 'family' of Morton supporters - having an affinity with people that you don't know, because you share a love of your local football club. It's not supposed to be about point scoring and showing how 'clever' or 'funny' you are, or just being downright rude and offensive to people you don't know, because you can get away with it. Unfortunately, it seems the classic case of people who have little standing/presence in real life, use this forum as a way of making themselves feel as if they are something. It's sad, and I've said that before..

So, having been on Morton forums for about 15 years I guess, I've had enough... well done t*ssers, another Morton supporter driven away. You can all feel happy at how 'clever' you are

My s***es after a night on the Strongbow at the Broomy darts are harder than Harkins. Imagine letting a espadrilles wearing, Audi TT driving freak of nature like Jamie ****ing Stevenson body one of your players and make it out of Cappielow in one piece. Completely unacceptable.

Get Hardie or Mark Pickering in the team to repay him with interest.

Ha, guessing you weren't paying attention last season when, in a mediocre team with barely any real fight or dig, Harkins actually rattled into every challenge and done a job that nobody in our midfield does currently. He would be a better option than McAllister.

I am not seriously saying bring him back but he would have done well in this team.

Teams intimidated into not kicking everything that moves: 0

List of bodies taken by Gary Harkins last season: also 0

So not really what we're looking for then.

Different Ref Tonight Gavin Ross.. Instead of Mike Ronecone We might have a even better chance now..

Much as the ref from Saturday was poor there can be absolutely no excuses for not going up and dishing out a proper doing to these utter, utter bumpkins.

Peter Weatherson is the greatest player since Ritchie, and should be assigned 'chairman for life'

The fact we're playing a replay tonight is entirely down to us being s***e on Saturday, not the referee.

Nice to see poor Jim getting the excuses in early about his players having to go to work whilst our full timers had the luxury of a day’s training.

It didn’t stop his squad of underachieving drunks making a right royal c*nt of a title race and missing out on promotion to little Brechin City and Stranraer.
