capitanus
New evidence has emerged suggesting Rangers FC covered up the reasons why a former youth coach accused of child sex offences left the club: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-50087600 Apparently there is no record of Graeme Souness or Walter Smith reporting indecent assault on a minor to the Police, as was previously reported. *insert signature here*

The idea of any organisation turning a blind eye to the abuse of children in order to protect their reputation is morally repugnant and beneath contempt. Trying to make capital from young childrens suffering is also appalling.

It says a lot about the selective outrage applied to such things that a lot of major institutions in the world retain any credibility. For over a decade now there has been the taunt 'Big Jock Knew' aimed at Celtic supporters over the disgraceful crimes committed by Torbett, Cairney & Co. Whilst at Celtic. For years Rangers supporters tried to assume some kind of moral high ground over Celtic as a result of this, but it transpires that Walter Smith, Graeme Souness and their beloved Rangers FC are just the same as 'Big Jock' for not reporting something which they should have to the Police. I'll bet that their 'Big Jock' - the inferior one - also knew about Harry Dunn too. *insert signature here*

I did note from reading Twitter this morning that the attitude of the Celtic support appears to be along the lines of “we’ll not be lowering ourselves to the level of the Rangers fans by mocking them over this latest developmentâ€. Basically, “we’ll make you bloody sure that everyone knows we know all about it, but won’t be seen to be loving every single second of it because that gives us the moral high ground; similar to how our party songs at games aren’t actually sectarian, but you get the hint. Nudge nudge, wink winkâ€. Fooling absolutely nobody.

I think it's more akin to Myra Hindley and Rose West arguing over who is the better person. *insert signature here*

I accept (and fully endorse) your point about the Rangers fans having to eat a bit of humble pie after giving it the Big Jock Knew patter for the best part of 20 years, but let’s have a wee bit of balance, here. The Celtic fans’ response here shouldn’t be mistaken for empathy for the victims- they’re loving every second of it and are merely milking it in a different way. Well of course Celtic fans have no empathy for victims of wrongdoings at either their own club or that of their biggest rivals. They struggle to even acknowledge that their own club raped and molested countless young children, and caused immeasurable damage to Scottish Football for several generations. Why would they want to own up to that, the victims of their own club are fellow Glaswegians and not Palestinian Muslims. There won't be any plaudits to be gained from those with anti-Semitic leftist agendas by trying to clean up the human tragedy their own club left in their own communities. Another horrible club. *insert signature here*
