I appear to be the only one that thinks we could fully rotate and still win comfortably, fair enough.

You've put a player in who played for Kilbirnie last year, to be fair. Is a Scottish Cup tie the moment to discover is he's actually any better than that level?

No. I'd play a rotated team to avoid injuries against Beith's hammer-throwers and give other members of the squad some game time. I'm fully aware that McAleer is guff, but I'd be astonished if he couldn't cut it against whatever he's up against next week.

We're comfortably among the top 15 teams in the country and our substitutes are apparently supposed to be overawed by Beith? Let's just disband association football if that's the case.

No, they certainly shouldn't overawed, I don't think anyone even remotely suggested that (straw man alert!). But to contemptuously dismiss them out of hand would be foolish, IMO.

Plenty of awful players have sat on the bench at good teams. And plenty players who have been with Morton have turned out to be no more than junior players.

Plenty of cup shocks have happened when a team takes the attitude that it's only *insert diddy team*. The Goon's team should be more than good enough, but why take the risk?

Because if we lose players to injuries we damage our playoff hopes, that's why.

Beith are fucking shite, I say this having never seen them play but it's undoubtedly true, a mix of youth and experience can batter them.

If we can't dismiss Beith who can we dismiss? They're fucking shan.

They are, and all things being equal we should comfortably pump them, but as you know football's not always like that.

There are a few factors in play that will erode a lot of our undoubted superiority, a pumped-up opposition and a slopey, bumpy, boggy pitch to name but a few. Even with that the chances of us losing are small, but we shouldn't take it for granted that all we have to do is turn up and the game's already won.

just to remind everyone when morton were challenging partick just a few years ago, we drew with turriff 1-1.  In the last 20 mins, turriff looked the more likely to score.

Also, we lost to spartans but we had a bad run of form around then plus injury to Gaston etc.

The pitch can be a great leveller also if its as bad as Albion Rovers type where we drew 0-0.

So plenty of recent factors to hopefully we take a professional approach to make sure we win at the 1st hurdle with no replay.

No fucking about. This is the most prestigious competition in the country. No resting players, get them hammered.

Peter Weatherson is the greatest player since Ritchie, and should be assigned 'chairman for life'

I'm really not worried about that. Is there evidence to suggest that there would be a specific risk?

They won't be able to get within five yards of The Famous if we play our strongest team anyway. This game calls for a utter hounding, nothing less.

The site is supposed to be a place for the extended 'family' of Morton supporters - having an affinity with people that you don't know, because you share a love of your local football club. It's not supposed to be about point scoring and showing how 'clever' or 'funny' you are, or just being downright rude and offensive to people you don't know, because you can get away with it. Unfortunately, it seems the classic case of people who have little standing/presence in real life, use this forum as a way of making themselves feel as if they are something. It's sad, and I've said that before..

So, having been on Morton forums for about 15 years I guess, I've had enough... well done t*ssers, another Morton supporter driven away. You can all feel happy at how 'clever' you are

is this game all ticket?  how many roughly does beith take?

I remember turriff game was all ticket by police.  Capacity was around 2000 and over 800 attended. Typical over reaction by police scotland to make it all ticket

Its not all ticket?

some of the juniors think its martial arts contest rather than a football match. You do not need to have the ball in ayrshire junior football to get whacked.
